Audix Cab grabber

Need to mic amp for Harp. This product is simple, easy to set up and avoids the problems with floor based mic stands. Perfect solution to mic an amp. Without a stand or holder, the sound man just hangs a mic from the amp strap and lets it dangle in the middle of the speakers. This product allows quick and secure placement of the mic at the correct angle to the speaker cone for optimum effect. Will never go back to a conventional stand.

Great idea but doesn't work

I wish thins thing worked properly...it WOULD be an excellent product! It's very hard to tighten or loosen, and even when fully tightened it doesn't stay in place well... sagging down, which forces you to loosen and tighten it again, which is very difficult. If you're going for precise mic placement, forget it! To top it off, it's too short to use properly with an SM57 (THE most popular guitar cab mic! Really Audix?!!) and you can't adjust the length, which I don't get at all. If you're going to make one of these, make it adjustable, like a mic stand! Basically worthless...I'll be returning mine as soon as GC reopens.

Like most stuff these days, made to minimum spec. Will not hold the weight of a mic, much less any sort of other hardware, which is necessary to reach the center of your 1x12 cab (off axis micing is not useful, if you don't agree take it up with Steve Albini), This will barely reach the edge of the speaker if you angle the mic 45 degrees. Won't stay in place, screw collars don't hold the arm steady. Gave it two stars because it does technically hold a mic flopping around somewhere in the vicinity of your speaker.

If you have crazy dancing musicians and you don't want stands all over the floor this is perfect for micing an amplifier or fixing to a rafter in the roof and micing the crowd while they go nuts.
