This was perfect to switch up the quality of sound I was getting out of my microphone. With a variety of pre-amp tube settings, it colors my raw vocals in a way that inspired me to put finishing touches on my project. 10/10

If you have something like a helix run this In the fx loop with a sonic maximizer and you'll remove the cloud of digital "fakeness" and wake it up with real tube saturation. I put my fx loop block between my amp head model and IR. Note: spend the $15 extra bucks and get a nice tube

These are pretty handy little devices. Warm up and EQ signal going into a digital recorder. Boost a line out signal and EQ. The EQ I mention are presets that are adjustable via rotary dial..it does change the sounds. I use this Alot. If you record digital DAT DAW PC which is the majority now days...you know the rest.

To be clear, I am running this through inexpensive Class D amps, a Rumble 150 combo and a Rumble 500 head. It does just what I ask of it, warm up that dry solid state tone a little bit and gives me a good boost on my passive Fender basses. If you have big expensive tube amps or active pickup on your guitar, don't expect noticeable change. My only real criticism is the power supply; the very similar 2 channel rack version uses an IEEC cord and has a transformer on board. This pre-amp has a proprietary wall wart that produces 9 volts AC instead of the usual 9 volts DC that most pedals use. I do not want to know what happens if I get then switched (I am thinking about painting the ART unit red!)' Other that that, it is a well priced easy to use unit that does exactly what I needed from it.

Would you pair this with a DBX 286 for the Shure SM7B ? or is that too much? It's for voiceovers and a bit of vocal work., Home studio.

    It'll be fine.

How does this compare to a Cloudlifter or a dbx 286s Channel Strip for the Shure SM7B ?

This will be comparable, but it depends on what your main requirement for the system is
