There are a couple reviews that say this stand is too tall to mic a kick drum. That is not true. You can set a mic just off the floor if you want to. I use this stand to mic my kick drum and to mic bass cabinets and it works perfectly. I've had it for 12 years and I am buying another.

Got this for a kick drum mic stand. The swivel is a bit higher than I would like. It will probably work on my 26" kick with a hole about half way up. But for a 22" it is too tall. Would require a hold very high on the head to get the mic positioned properly. But it is a very solid stand with a nice heavy bass that should not tip over.

Handy for micing guitar cabinets, floor toms and snare drums. The three legged heavy cast base keeps microphones stable but still fits around crowded drum kits. Also takes up less room in a road case. I've used them in the past and they seem very durable.

Keep in mind that this is a drum mike stand. It is very short.

This stand is great. It doesn't go very low though, so for people looking to mic kick drums, the resonant head has to be off or you need a vent on the top half of your kick drums resonant head (I had a vent on the bottom right side of my resonant head and I could only angle the stand downwards to fit the grill of the mic just inside the vent, which is ok if you want the boom of the drum, but i ended up rotating my head to get the vent higher, so now I have an upside down Gretsch resonant head, but I can get my mic inside my kick drum, right where I need it with this stand). The base on this stand is solid metal (it's pretty heavy), don't worry about this stand tipping over, unless you kick it of course. I could see this thing taking some damage and being just fine. I think it would be ok for micing an acoustic guitar with someone who is sitting down in a chair, I haven't tried it yet though. Fine for micing amps. I like this stand a lot, not very low to the ground, but not like a normal boom stand, it's right in the middle. Try it out, get one.
