I was hesitant to buy this case when I first bought my Pioneer DDJ-SX due to the negative reviews; however I needed a case and this was the best option available at GC in stock so I got it knowing I could return it if it didn't meet my expectations. It is well made - no flaws in workmanship - very sturdy and visually appealing. Excellent engineering & design. A work-horse for traveling! The lock hinges open from the bottom edge when the case is laying flat on its vinyl feet - this means less chance on getting things caught on them. When the top cover is removed, the hinges are no longer present on the bottom that contains the DDJ-SX. The DDJ-SX fits firmly and snugly inside the case, even when carrying it from the top handle. Other people have talked about there not being enough space for cables - this is false. There is lots of room for all cables from the back opening of the case below the sliding computer shelf. The key and crucial issue is the proper use of foam spacers that come with this case. There are no instructions so you have to figure it out for yourself. There are 4 wedge-shaped spacers that must be placed correctly. Two smaller wedge spacers go underneath the back edge of the DDJ-SX controller so that it is elevated more off the floor of the case. Two larger wedge-shaped spacers go under the computer shelf so that when the shelf is over the top of the controller, it is held in place for carrying. I would definitely this case.

Design seems a bit rushed
After returning my Numark NS7FX and Odyssey Black Label Glider case and waiting a month on back order I finally received this new case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX. At first glance the case looks nice but within 5 minutes of unboxing it I noticed several design flaws. First, the latches and handle on the case seems as if they are mounted upside down. I own several different Odyssey cases and have never one with the hardware mounted this way. Second, after getting it opened and the DDJ installed I noticed that there is very little clearance behind the unit for connecting the inputs and outputs. My microphone cable for example, which is XLR, was pushing tightly against the back of the case. The outputs, again assuming you use XLR, are pretty tight as well. The third thing I noticed (and this is the most frustrating part) is that the shelf that is supposed to "glide" is extremely rough doesn't glide so much as it grinds the further you push it back. By the time I got it back far enough to access the library and effect controls on the unit I was using 2 hands and a good amount of force to move it. This force was required well before the shelf got to the little stopper they have attached to the left rear of the glide track. I did notice that lifting up on the back of the shelf helped it move with a little less resistance but I'm not willing to walk to the front of my table every time I need to adjust the shelf. For the record, I had the same type of case for the NS7 and the shelf was excellent on that. The last thing I noticed before I made up my mind to find another alternative to this case (which is proving very difficult due to the extremely limited options available at this time) is that after putting the lid back on the case and moving it 3 feet, I could feel the unit moving around inside. In Odyssey's defense, they do ship the case with several pieces of hard foam with velcro attached to them which I assume are meant to hold the unit in place when moving it, however it is nearly impossible to put any of them between the shelf and the unit without putting much more pressure on the knobs and buttons than I feel comfortable with. Also I fail to see how anyone is expected to slide velco across carpeting in order get the pads in position that they would serve any purpose at all. If I had to say something good about this case I would say that it looks nice and it's MUCH lighter than the case I had for my Numark NS7, but beyond that... well I really have nothing.

Def a good case for any time use! Only issues i have is the slider i feel for the price should slide easier maybe on a bearing or something just doesnt slide that easy, for how much i paid, but infeel my unit is safe and secure in that case.

If you are looking for a case that fits and protects your DDJ SX2, this is the one. The controller fits very snug in the case and the sliding top is very convenient for other devises as well as your laptop. The overall size is really not much more than the controller, but it is really heavy duty and constructed well. The only thing I had to add was stick on rubber feet. I have my controller always set in the case on a finished table and without them it will slide. Totally worth the price.
