The Nord story began in 1983 when Hans Nordelius founded Clavia Digital Musical Instruments (Clavia DMI AB) and began to develop products from a small basement in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden. That same year, Clavia released its first product, the Digital Percussion Plate 1, an innovative drum pad that enabled drummers to play using sampled sounds. The drum pad was instantly successful and remains highly regarded to the present day. In 1995, Clavia introduced its first synthesizer, the Nord Lead, which produced a virtual analog sound and quickly became a success. Through the years, more innovative products followed, each improving upon the last with new state-of-the-art features. Today, the Swedish manufacturer of the Nord product line continues to produce high-quality, handmade keyboard products from its factory in Stockholm, Sweden, and has grown into one of the leading manufacturers of performance synthesizers, stage keyboards and organs for performing musicians.
