I'm a jazz/classical professionally trained piano player. I've been on the market for a while looking for an upright acoustic piano with a silent feature to practice quietly when needed. I inadvertently delved into the digital piano scene and ended up purchasing this Grand 2. I could go on forever, but important details on this piano include that the sounds are simply top of the line. There are Roland/Yamaha/Kawaii/Korg competitors in this space, but arguably this one is that "overpriced but top of the bunch" of them. The sounds that can be loaded on this keyboard can be loaded onto any other Nord product, so you don't need this flagship for the sounds, but the action on this one is good and makes it worth it for the die hard piano players. Realistically anyone can be a snob for action, but honestly walk into any piano shop and the actions even within the 100k grands can be all over the place within brands. Action on this one is great and feels like a grand for highly technical classical pieces or highly technical players. In short what did it for me was that I was going to get a Yamaha U3 with silent feature. I don't have space for a grand, but if I had to compromise, I was going to get a good brand new upright. I was expecting about 15k for that purchase. I went in to play it and HATED the action and sound. I said I be damned to pay my well earned 15k and be sad about my purchase. I played the 75k Yamaha grand in the same store and to me the sound was AMAZING and my comment on the action was, wow for 75k I'd expect to play so much better. Like I said before, each person will have a preference and each piano has character. This piano fell into place well. It sounds SOOO much better than a 15k acoustic, and the action is just fine. It is among the most expensive digital pianos out there, but depending on what you're looking for, it is a bargain if you were looking for an acoustic. Very happy with purchase. I liken Nord to Apple iPhones. It's overpriced for the features, but you are getting a flagship product. I wouldn't want to buy anything else at this point. It is a delight to play. My biggest frustration for buying such an expensive digital is the 2GB memory for piano sounds isn't large enough. You will only be able to download a handful of the high definition pianos off their website and quickly fill up the memory. I would've appreciated if they had enough memory to have all the sounds. So you'll inevitably have to pick n choose what you want. The ability to change the tones helps. They all sound marvelous on headphones. You'll need good monitor speakers if you want to recreate the sound well, otherwise you're doing a disservice to the sound engine.

Absolutely the most incredible keyboard I've ever played. If you're a piano player, this is it. Tried Stage 4, too many bells and whistles. This is straight to the point with many easy parameters. I haven't even read the manual yet. It's a piece of cake to use and even better to play.

    • Wow.

If you're a piano player and like a lot of incredible sounds to compliment your playing, I can assure you, there is absolutely no other electric portable keyboard that even comes close to a real piano as this does. I've tried them all. The moment I hit the first note I was addicted. I tried the stage 4 compact and even that doesn't seem to sound as good as this, never mind the keybed. The connection between your finger tips and the sounds this fine instrument produces are literally an extension of your emotions. I simply can't explain it through words. Plus it's not that heavy if you need to transport it. A little bulky though, However, totally worth the effort if need be. I also can't express enough praise for the incredible service of Zach Dennison in the Brentwood, Tn G.C. location for being patient enough to get me set up with this. After a few trail and errors, I have arrived! Thank you Zach!!
