The Best Interface Below $500! (pop and click fix)
This Interface has been my best friend.. The thing is I never even think about it, I just plug in and go.. which is how it should be, not a factor at all. Extremely Dependable, and everything I could ask for. The reason I am writing this review is to defend this device, I read in a lot of forums that it has pops and clicks.. which I dealt with too about 3 months after owning it AND it drove me CRAZY.. the solution is so simple some models ship with weak/faulty USB 2.0 cables.. after replacing it with one I had laying around, I never looked back This baby is so reliable, no latency and solidly built. You will not regret this purchase.

Be Careful Before Purchasing...
I needed a USB audio interface for my PC so I could drive two pair of studio monitors. I have a set of KRK Rokit 5's and a set of KRK Rokit 10-3's. I wanted to be able to use both of them simultaneously and play sound from my PC out of all 4 speakers at once. I've used these two pair simultaneously with my Traktor Kontrol S8 (used one pair on mains outs and another on booth outs) and it worked fine. The 5's are brighter than the 10-3's so the pairs together give a much filler sound. I went with this device versus other devices similarly priced with better reviews on some sites - including the Focusrite Gen 2 products. The 6i6 Gen 2 is similar to this device in price and features, but wasn't available at the time of purchase. Both this and the 6i6 have 4 audio outputs, so I figured I'd be set with either device. Had I done more research, I could have gotten a 2i2 for much less money and it would have worked the same. Reason why? The KA6 won't let you output PC audio to the 1/2 and 3/4 speakers simultaneously. You can send device inputs via the Mic or Line channels on the KA6 itself to both simultaneously, but you can't send audio from the PC to all 4 channels at once. I'm not sure why this is, but it was a big let-down to me. Because the device contains serial numbers for downloadable software, Guitar Center does not allow returns on the device. In order to accomplish what I wanted to do, I needed to go back and purchase a Mackie Mix8, which allows me to take 1/2 output from the KA6 (balanced) and split it out to two pair of balanced outputs. This works out nice, since I can independently control the gain on both the 10-3's and the Rokit 5's, but it was another $100 spend for the mixer and cables. Now I'm essentially getting the same functionality as a 2i2 paired with the Mix8, but it cost me $100 more. There should be no reason why they couldn't allow output on 1/2 and 3/4 at the same time. Read the manual before you buy. I learned the hard way.

Great Overall Unit

Used this in the studio and noticed that the sound quality was great/low latency. Not using the USB cable it came with and getting a better quality USB cable fixes the power surge/pop and click that occurs mostly on waking the computer. The second input I noticed some noise after 5 years of use. I understand each input on 1 & 2 differ in instrument vs line level but on my unit input 2 carrier a lot of noise. For the price this outperforms many units. The location of the knobs etc make it convenient but not as aesthetically pleasing as the newer model. Phantom power is solid and a mid grade preamp is recommended if you're using a microphone. I also have the unit plugged into a multi output broadcast headphone amplifier which sounds great. The MIDI worked well with low latency as well compared to other interfaces on the market. The multi output function is pretty important as in the studio mixing it's best to switch between monitors to combat ear fatigue. This can be accomplished with a touch of a button.

Love NI but very disappointed with this

I bought this interface because of how much I love my Maschine. It sounded great for the first 45 minutes and then it started... intermittent pops and crackles. I was rooting for this so scoured the internet about this issue. There was a good amount of forums with people facing the same issue. After contacting NI and getting no help, then trying everything the forums suggested, it still had the same issue. I chose the same route a lot of other took and decided to return it. Went with the Focusrite Clarett and have had crystal clear sound ever since.
Fantastic entry level audio interface

I used this interface for the past 3 years with my mobile laptop rig and it has been a wonderful, solid audio interface. The sound quality is great, easy to use and has been extremely consistent. Very low latency on my Core i5-8400, I average 24 μs with the process buffer at 128 samples. The software package is loaded with quality instruments and software. Highly recommend, this audio interface is the best entry level by leaps and bounds.
2 years using this audio 6.

This interface rocks, I've recorded ..bass..guitars, keyboards, using cubase 9. I'm getting 3.4 milliseconds on input and around 4.3 on output using 96000Hz/96bit rate .. on mix down I bump it up to 128 or 256.. and is smooth with tons of vsti and plugins.....seems to be the magic number with this unit. And that's recording 4 channels at once.. Recording 2 channel audio drum tracks from a yamaha dtx 502 module and 3 or 4 midi vsti. Grooveagent, ezdrummer, drumlab. At the same time..... nice.. My system is even old. Asus laptop .I7 2.0 Hz 8 gigs ram I wish we could link 2 of these together for more inputs.. maybe you can I'm not sure Best bang for the buck. And all the added software is great... one of the reasons I got this unit... and for the digital in and outputs. Very satisfied .... Happy recording
It's worth the money

This is the second audio interface I have used but so far it sounds clear and the quality is much higher than I was used to. Also the latency is very low and I use the effects withought any noticeable lag time. Haven't tried the MIDI ports but I'm assuming they will be good as well. I have currently tried using it to record electric/acoustic guitar, vocals and piano with various types of microphones and it hasn't t given me any problems.
