The NUX Tape Echo effects pedal is a tribute to the Japanese-made Space Echo from 1974. Analog tape echo devices record incoming audio to a loop of magnetic tape, then replay the continuous loop over the playback head before it is erased again by new incoming audio. The Space Echo units used standard 1/4" tape to spool onto tape-reels, but this device uses no reels of any kind. The tape is transported via a capstan drive, and the tape loop is contained in a loose, constantly moving jumble in the tape chamber (also known as the tape tank) under a plastic panel which protects the tape and keeps it from getting tangled. The design offers lower levels of noise, wow and flutter, and cuts down on tape wear. NUX Tape Echo uses Core-Image technology to capture these characteristics including bass, treble, repeat rate, intensity, Echo volume, reverb volume and physical features like wow, flutter and saturation. Even self-regenerate and self-oscillation is possible using a dual foot switch stompbox enclosure.

This pedal put Nux on the Map for me. I love delay pedals and have over a dozen including the OG EP3 which broke. The Nux is easy to use. Most of all it has beautiful tone. It's very inspiring and fun to play through. Now I have bought other Nux pedals. So far so good!

Definitely a very underrated pedal. I've used re-20 for a long time and this thing blows it out of the water. The difference in quality of sound and the authenticity of it is staggering. It's also cheaper, takes up less room on my board, and has just as many options. It just sounds so good. I'm extremely pleased with this purchase which I went out on a limb for since I wasn't familiar with NUX pedals. Being able to control the time the rate or the level with an expression pedal is fantastic. Probably one of my favorite pedals I've used.
