The NXTa (active) 5 string double bass is crafted to exacting standards in the Czech Republic, and shares the classic body design, ergonomics and performance support options of the CR and EU Series.

About the new NXTa active circuitry: Using the supplied charger, plug the NXT into any AC outlet for 60 seconds to power the capacitor-powered active circuit for up to 16 hours of performance time. The instrument can then be plugged straight into any low or high impedance device, no direct box necessary. Since there is no signal loss over the full frequency spectrum of the instrument, the fundamentals of every note remain clear and strong, even with extra-long cables.

The NXTa can also be played in its passive mode when using a direct box or an amplifier with high impedance input. (This mode provides performance capabilities identical to the original NXT.)

    Such a joy to play. Great sound. Not exactly like an acoustic upright but close. A hybrid between and acoustic upright and a fretless guitar. Thinking about getting one? On the fence? DO IT!

    After some confusion on my first order of the Wav5 String NS Design Upright Bass, I found out they were really backordered for several months. So I found out there was one NS Design NXTa 5 String Double bass left. It was more expensive than the other because of active pickups, but I didn't want to wait, I ordered this at a great deal offered by my local dealer because of the mixup, and I'm so happy and glad I got this awesome instrument. Picture if you will, an upright bass without the large heavy body..it's amazing, the sustain, the sound, there's nothing out there that compares to its rich natural tone. If there are basses in Heaven, this one is definitely there! Thank you Guitar Center and NS Steinberger!
