Description
About the new NXTa active circuitry: Using the supplied charger, plug the NXT into any AC outlet for 60 seconds to power the capacitor-powered active circuit for up to 16 hours of performance time. The instrument can then be plugged straight into any low or high impedance device, no direct box necessary. Since there is no signal loss over the full frequency spectrum of the instrument, the fundamentals of every note remain clear and strong, even with extra-long cables.
The NXTa can also be played in its passive mode when using a direct box or an amplifier with high impedance input. (This mode provides performance capabilities identical to the original NXT.)

Features
- Four string upright configuration
- 16 hours play time on a single 60-second charge
- No DI necessary for recording or live
- No signal loss across the entire tonal spectrum

Arrived quickly and was quick to set up out of the box. Sounds great and is a pleasure to play. Also sounds great with a bow.
Great Instrument for Working Musician

Overall this is a great instrument, especially at this price point. The neck is fast and smooth, with some pretty helpful position markers along the fingerboard, which is particularly helpful because there is no notch at the D on the G string as a reference point, which is one of its few pitfalls. Beyond that the only complaint I have is the pizz/arco mode selector switch; there are aspects of both I really enjoy (I primarily play jazz) and wish there was some sort of blending function as opposed to the full "one or the other" switch it has. This bass is very easy to transport and folds up into a convenient pack in the case provided. I've used it on a few gigs running through an acoustic image coda and with the right eq, it's almost exactly like an upright, but with substantially more playability as the string tension seems to be much lower than a traditional upright.
