I just received my tripod boom microphone stand today. It was lighter than I expected it to be. The outer box was just a bit mangled, some of the wrapping tape had come loose, there was plenty of packing paper and an inner box. The stand itself seems to be in fine shape. I set it up, was able to mount my microphone holder (not included) and microphone. It is highly adjustable. The vertical support goes really high, maybe up to 6 ft which is good for my purpose. Vertical height, boom angle and boom length all very adjustable. I just have to remember to not force any of the adjustments; that's why I had to buy a new one in the first place. Bonus: The price was terrific and shipping to my home was free!
Thrilled with the whole thing.

I bought this product a few years ago at Kalamazoo Guitar Center. I planned on using it for a home recording studio. Initially, it was to be a vocal Mic stand. This stand could not handle having small adjustments made from time to time let alone fully taken down to move. I decided it would service better as a drum cymbal overhead stand. I put an sm57 in the air and the stand started to fall over. The base isn't heavy enough to use a boom extended with even that small of a microphone. At some point i had to take the boom assembly apart to refinish it and reassemble it because it stopped wanting to move. Now I've found the treads on the adjuster part of the boom are worn down and I can slide it on and off without much force. Likely the cause of over tightening to keep the stand sturdy. They don't have just the adjuster part of the arm to replace so I'm gonna tape it and keep it stationary. I am going to buy round base stands with more durable material from now on.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG100B Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

The metal tubes have gotten thinner. More plastic parts. Bluntly speaking, they're a lot more cheaply made than before. Not a professional piece of equipment. Home studio grade. Not stage worthy. Would not buy again. I would be looking for a different manufacturer.

Boom Arm slips down with any mic easily even when tightened up. In the middle of a show I don't need this. They need to remove these and replace them with a higher quality at a competitive price.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG100B Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

I purchased 3 of these stands and every one of them are garbage. They do not hold up a microphone unless the boom arm is 1/2 or less extended. The little gears that keep the arm from falling are trash and strip out all of the time. Unless you plan to NEVER move this stand or adjust the height of the mic I would not even consider it.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG100B Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

After opening the box, I immediately knew I made a bad purchase. A good mic stand is solid, has weight, sturdy. This mic stand is flimsy, falls apart on it's own, useless. It is extremely light in weight and will not work for an onstage microphone stand in a working band or enviornment. I guess that's why they're "cheap" for a reason... it's because they are. I will give them away at the next yard sale... or just throw them away.

Quality boom at phenomenal price. Would recommend to a friend.. I was shocked however as the product in its 4x 4 x 40 inch long box was packed in a 5 x 20 x 42 inch box with a ton of paper wrapping.

Guitar Center will go broke if they continue to ship to store this way...... And I like GC.
