Just What I Needed

I've been using a digital processor for my bass for several years now, and there were a couple of effects that it just could not do properly. I bought a Mooer pedal that did that job, and I was impressed. Thanks to that experience I've been moving more toward a few independent pedals that were all I really needed. One of my problems was that my main bass was passive but I had acquired an active fretless that I love. I use both with my band, making a quick switch via an ABY pedal. With the processor I could make a setting for the passive and bypass it for the active bass. With the pedals of course I needed some kind of boost for the passive bass. Based on reviews I'd read and watched I bought the Mooer Pure Boost. I couldn't be happier. Not only does it give me the perfect balance between the two but I can swap them out and just shut off the boost when playing the active bass, plus it has its own treble and bass controls to aid in the set up. There doesn't seem to be any negative affect to the sound at all, so I'm as happy as I can be.
great product at affordable price

I've been on a relentless search for the perfect Boost/Overdrive pedal (or at least a great one) and after a few years, I asked myself "is there such a thing?" One pedal after another, I kept saying "that's awful" or "close by not transparent enough". I tried TC Electronic, Xotic, Mesa Boogie, Mad Professor, Red Witch, Wampler, Electro-Harmonics, Keeley, T-Rex. MXR and Voodoo Lab. I could have kept driving back and forth to the guitar store but there aren't enough hours in the day and I was getting discouraged. I finally turned to YouTube and started listening to as many clips as I could find. Mooer was honestly the LAST pedal I had any interest in looking. Not because I don't think they make a good product but because most of their pedals are Chinese "clones" and I didn't have any faith they would be better than the real thing. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! It is hands down THE BEST Boost/Overdrive pedal I have ever heard. It is 100% transparent and doesn't "color" my guitar in any shape or form. It sounds very full, rich and PERFECTLY balanced. The highs, mids and low's are exactly where they're supposed to be. When I kick it on, I hear MY guitar, only louder and fuller. If that wasn't enough, the overdrive tone is awesome! Even when I crank up the overdrive, I still hear MY guitar and not some "version" of it. To say this pedal has exceeded my expectations is an understatement. This pedal will live on my board forever. I have no interest in looking any further. And the price point is flat out ridiculous. To get this much PERFECTION for under $100 is mind boggling. I tried other pedals that cost as much as $350 and they didn't sound as good as this pedal. All I can say is... wow, wow, wow!

Can I use this with an amp at high gain and use it to tighten up the tone for high gain metal?
Yes, you can. Other than a strict voltage boost, it won't change your sound. It will overdrive the inputs of a tube pre-amp.submitted6 years ago

Does this require battery power, and would it be a good choice to just boost for volume for leads on acoustic guitar?
This uses a power adapter. Yes, it will be good for that functionsubmitted7 years ago
