Mitchell

collapse expand iconDescription

The Mitchell MS430SM is a stunning acoustic-electric guitar designed for use on the stage and in the studio. With an eye-catching visual, gorgeous craftsmanship and premium electronics, the MS470SM is made to turn heads before you even play a note. An auditorium body shape provides comfortable playability while a spalted maple top, back and body produces clear, tranquil tones. This is paired with a 25.5"-scale rosewood fingerboard topped with 20 frets and featuring a narrow C neck profile.

Fishman Electronics

A Fishman pickup is positioned below the saddle and an onboard Fishman Presys puts the control right at your fingertips. Dial in the sound you’re looking for with a 3-band EQ and a built-in chromatic tuner. Additionally, a phase switch reduces feedback while performing.

Unique Details

To further set it apart from similar instruments, the MX430 acoustic-electric features a hand-inlayed rosette surrounding the sound hole, made up of individual pieces of genuine abalone shell. Additional premium appointments include die-cast tuners and a gloss finish.

The Mitchell MS430 SM commands attention in any setting with a feel that experienced players will find deeply satisfying. It probably won’t be your first guitar but the MX430 may quickly become your favorite.

2nd Mitchell mx430

I purchased this same guitar a couple of weeks ago but, the quilted burl ash model. I was so impressed with it that I had to have another for a backup or just a second guitar but, I wanted a different finish. This guitar is absolutely beautiful! Obviously plays and, sounds as Great as the other one. Mitchell builds a fine instrument made in Indonesia not China. I have left a review on the burl ash model so I'm not going to elaborate here on this one. I was looking for a slimline smaller acoustic electric for ease of playing live while seated on a barstool and, this baby fills the bill. Checks all the boxes ✅ ! Highly recommend Mitchell guitars to anybody. I've tried them all from the most expensive to the cheapest and, this ranks up there with the best. I do not post reviews unless I have a good reason to help and, recommend an item. I am a 50yr+ professional musician and, I would take a Mitchell guitar on stage with me anytime or anywhere!

Eh...

I bought this guitar because of the sound and playability. Added bonus was the look of it. It was great for a while, until the buzzing started around the 12th fret. I looked closer and the rep at guitar center adjusted the truss rod to far and the neck was starting to bow. I readjusted but the frets were still buzzing. I had to file and level them out then it was good for a few more months. Now I have buzzing on the low E at the first and second fret. It sounds great, but it's not durable.

Great sound. My biggest issue is that while I paid for a new guitar the guitar I received appears to have been at least an open box with possibility of it being used. Still trying to figure out if I should go through the trouble of returning it for another? Who said that guitar center will be more honest 2nd time around?

What is the difference between buying one of the used Mitchell MX430s vs. new. Aside from the obvious being a new guitar, are the warranties the same- 45 day return policy? Is there a benefit to waiting for a sale vs. buying used in great condition?

Is it normal for there to be fine cracks around the electronics box? I am seeing some fine cracks where the screws would possibly be.

This item is advertised as "blemished". How bad is it? Can I choose to pick up in store and return it upon inspection (if the item condition is worse than what I'm willing to accept)?

I’m sorry, we have no way to know what the blemish is. The blemishes will be perhaps minor scratches, average handling wear. There will be no effect on play-ability or sound. The guitar would need to be purchased in order to have it sent to another store.

With the rear strap mount doubling as the amp input, what kind of strap will work with this? I ordered a Ernie Ball but it doesn't fit great. Looking for recommendations.

If an Ernie Ball strap doesn't fit, then I don't know which would. My suggestion would be to take it to a local store and try out a couple different straps and see what you can find that will fit.
