MD300 double cutaway electric guitar Walnut Stain

MD300 double cutaway electric guitar Walnut Stain

Mitchell

Description

The Mitchell MD300 features a carved top, double cutaway, basswood body and a bolt-on maple neck, offering outstanding resonance and articulation. For a more advanced, modern sound, there's a rail-style Alnico humbucker in the bridge and a mini-rail Alnico V humbucker in the neck position. They both provide a more consistent magnetic pull versus standard pole pieces, which enhances overall tone and sustain. It also allows for additional picking room for advanced players while also expanding the visual beauty of the guitar top. The string-thru body design increases sustain even further, and high-ratio locking tuning machines make precise tuning easy.

Before delivery to our dealers, all Mitchell electric guitars receive a complete stateside setup and quality control inspection to ensure exceptional playability. Available in Blue Satin (MBLS), Walnut Satin (WS), Black (BK) and Blood Red (BR). Case sold separately.

MD300 Features
• Modern carved basswood double-cutaway body and a maple neck with smooth fretboard
• H/mini-H pickup configuration with paraffin-dipped, rail-style Alnico V pickups to reduce microphonics and unwanted feedback while mitigating tonal dropouts
• Deep Bevel Cutaway (DBC) design allows for complete fretboard access
• String-through body design and traditional, adjustable TOM-style bridge for outstanding sustain and solid intonation
• Locking tuning machines and Graph Tech TUSQ XL reduced-friction nut enhance tuning stability
• High-tensile strength fretwire for durability and smooth playability

Rock-it

I have had this guitar for a week now purchased it new and could not be happier. This is an all out rocker and more, it sounds crisp and gritty with no muddy-ness (I mainly use the humbucker). Feels and plays smooth, its very comfortable in my hands. I traded in an Ibanez to get this and have no regrets. If you have the opportunity try this one out.

Decent Guitar - In Spite Of It's Short Comings

I bought Blood Red. It's a very pretty guitar but in desperate need of a professional set up. Unplayable. I tried to set it up myself but was becoming too frustrated with the G string dying out plus the fret ends were horrible. I do think that it was good enough to keep and pay someone else to set it up. After set up (adjusted neck relief, action, pickup height, beveled fret ends, polished frets) it's really nice to play. I don't see it being my "go to" guitar, but I'm not getting rid of it. The coil split actually works and sounds really good. Locking tuners are a great feature but, without a tremolo, are they really needed? Hardware quality seems to be really nice. The pickups are decent, but nothing magical. A lot of hum/buzz when I touch the pickup ring and strings at the same time. Pickup rings are metal and not grounded. A quick solder job to connect a wire from the pickup plate to the volume pot fixed it. I think it's gig worthy and possibly a good option if you're worried about an expensive guitar getting damaged or stolen. If you're paying full retail price, you might want to try several of them until you find one that's got a good enough set up out of the box. Or, you might consider the MD400 because you will have to sink another $75 or so in to this one for a set up. The one thing that I didn't like was the customer experience at GC. I purchased this on line at clearance price. When I went to pick it up, I was told that it was a floor model. The ad on GC.com never specified "floor" or "demo". I have a copy of GC.com chat in which the rep states that it is "new". I'm not appreciative of the apparent uncertainty and inconsistency of the product advertisement and GC store employees vs GC.com representative's statements.

This guitar has really surprised me. Until I came across this at Guitar Center in Fayetteville, Ga. I had never played on a Mitchell guitar before. I have owned quite a few guitars in my life. I usually stick with Fender as that has always been my go to for comfort and tone but lately I have been trying different brands and this Mitchell is great. I gave it 4 stars ONLY because the truss rod needed an adjustment when I got it. It was very noticeable too over the first 4 frets. It only took about 1/2 turn though to get it just like I like it. It plays great, sounds great and is very lightweight which is also a bonus for me because I have heart issues and it is tiring to stand up with a heavy guitar now days. All in all I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this guitar to anyone wanting a new instrument. I have been playing since I was 16 and although I am not Steve Vai (and don't care to be Lol) I know enough about guitars to say that this instrument is a keeper. Now I may just order me a MD400 too :)

This thing may be the most wonderful guitar a beginner could ask for, it's super versatile because of the coil split, so it can handle jazz to metal, and it's really comfortable to play. Really inspired me when first learning.

  • Great guitar for the price.

I bought this guitar after reading tons of reviews and watching videos. I am impressed with the sounds you can get out of it. From clean to metal. The split coil works great. The tuners work awesome, and the action is just as good as anything I've ever played. Couldn't ask for a better guitar for the price. I got it on clearance and had a coupon I got it for under one hundred and forty smackaroos. However apparently clearance must mean store demo guitar cause the back was chipped up like crazy and it didn't come in an original box.

Guess I got unlucky, The received Mitchell MD300 Guitar has major issues. And will cost a small fortune to fix. 1. The Bridge is not set in the proper place, (its 3-4mm off) it is way obvious and you cant miss it. 2. The top nut has been filed down too far. 3. Really bad fret work. MOST frets are not seated fully. Buzzes if I set the action how I like. . 4. The bridge pick up has a crack the plastic.

I caught this on clearance and made it a even better deal. Only things I don't like is the blade pickups, those will get changed. The switches and pots are garbage so I switched those out with quality components and while I did I eliminated the coil split. It plays awesome, zero fret buzz and I love the radius of the fretboard....no finish on the back of the neck is awesome too. A good overall value.

I was put on to this guitar by one of the guys at the shop. I've been playing strat for a while and i just couldn't get the sound or play that i needed out of it. I love Schecter and ESP but was just stuck. The guy showed me one of the single cutaways and then this model. For the money, you really can't beat it. Locking tuners, split coil, fantastic ergonomics, great scale length, perfect fret size, etc... it checked all the boxes. On top of all that, it's discounted! The only negative I have is the sloppy headstock finish. The paint is just a little off. Having said that, I bought the guitar to play and not be wall art, so I really don't care what it looks like. It's just a great playing guitar.

Is there suppose to be a bezel around the neck pickup on the MD300? If no the guitar looks unfinished with that cavity and wires exposed. Thanks,

There isn't a bezel around the pickup, it's as pictured.
