Midas M32C 40-Channel Digital Rack Mixer

Description
The Midas M32C puts the processing heart of the flagship M32 console into a rugged yet portable 1U rackmount chassis. With 40 input channels, 25 mix busses and a 32x32 USB audio interface, the M32C has the flexibility you need. Dual AES50 ports allow you to connect up to four DL32 stageboxes. The M32C also packs eight studio-grade effects engines like reverbs, delays, equalizers and dynamics. With the expansion slot, you can add optional Dante or Waves SoundGrid cards too. Control it all wirelessly with M32-EDIT, M32-MIX and M32-Q apps.
High-Resolution Mixing With up to 96 Inputs and 96 Outputs
Forget bulky analog snake cables. The M32C's dual AES50 ports let you connect up to four DL32 stageboxes over CAT-5e cable. This saves setup time and reduces cable clutter. AES50's ultralow-latency lets you route channels anywhere without phase or timing issues. You get pristine 32-bit resolution end to end, with no signal degradation.
Craft Your Mix With 25 Flexible Buses
Shape your mix with 25 mix busses on the M32C. Route channels to subgroups for drum kits or backing vocals, send AUX feeds to monitors or process channels independently. The customizable mix bus layout has mono/stereo busses, six matrix busses, a main L/R plus solo and mute busses. Mix and process each bus separately with EQ, dynamics, delay and more.
Eight Built-in FX Engines Cover All Your Needs
The M32C eliminates outboard FX racks with eight onboard engines like reverbs, delays, equalizers and dynamics modeled after iconic studio hardware. Each FX algorithm is optimized for low-latency performance. Use the classic Midas XL4 stereo delay for lively echoes or the Midas DL251 emulation for natural room ambience. Sculpt tones with the warm vintage EQ or transparent multiband compressor. The extensive FX library covers all your processing needs.
Remote Control With M32-EDIT, M32-MIX and M32-Q Apps
The M32C can be fully remote controlled from a Mac, PC or iPad. M32-EDIT lets you configure the mixer from a computer. The M32-MIX iPad app provides wireless control over all mixing parameters. M32-Q allows up to 10 iOS devices to connect and provide personal monitor mixing for musicians. All apps are free downloads from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Inferior attempt at a "Midas," version of the x32 Core

I absolutely love x/m32 consoles. What's not to love? They're cheap, the form factor is ideal for quick in/out, they are uber customizable. Oh, and they're built on top of an OSC platform. How many other consoles have that going for them? Sure, there is no time-based automation internally, but that's completely irrelevant with the level of OSC control you can do with one of these things. OSC aside... M32c is a steaming pile of ineptitude: unlike x32 core it has no headphone amp, and no user-definable buttons or knobs (x32 core had 4x buttons, 2 rotaries.) The only real action you can take with this thing if you lose network connection for any reason, is to access the large knob up front which allows you to navigate basic console functions such as selecting synchronization source or loading a scene/show. ...so be sure to save yourself a backup scene and know how to get to it real quick like if you have an emergency with one of these things. If all you need, like a previous reviewer mentioned, is a monitor rig, and plan to purchase additional i/o to go along with this 1u (or perhaps x-dante or adat card,) you're probably fine with one of these. I would, however NOT recommend purchase of this poor excuse for an console for any live sound event, unless you also purchase an x-touch (full size) at the *very* least. If Music Group were to issue a new version with a headphone amp, buttons and knobs on the front in this price range, I may adjust that opinion slightly; but all in all - save your cash for something more emergency-resistant.
Great sounding Midas rig in a small package

I have been using the Midas brand digital consoles for years and this is a very flexible unit. Paired up with either the DL16 or DL32 Midas mic pre-amps, you can have concert quality sound in a rack mounted case. Setting up the network for ipad control is easy. Simply connect your router via an ethernet cable, set your IP address and connect with Midas app on your ipad. Once you connect to the router, you just insert the IP address into the Midas app and are ready to go. The best thing is that you can import all of your M32/X32 scenes right into the M32C using a usb flash drive. Music playback and recording is also through the USB port in wav format at 44.1.
