MESA/Boogie

Description

The 100W Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier amp head is a machine of mayhem, unleashing all the punishing gain found in the original Rectos' 2 channels and adding a powerful third channel dedicated to rhythm sounds. The high-gain lead channel now has an additional mode dubbed Raw that travels the region of gain below that of the original Vintage mode. With its touch-sensitive response, Raw lets you explore the heavier side of blues on up to classic rock, revealing the soulful nature of the tube-rectified power section.

With these 3 versatile channels, 8 incredible modes, the Solo Control feature, a programmable/footswitchable Effects Loop, and a stage-ready 5-button footcontroller, the Dual Rectifier Head is a pure-bred, gain-wielding beast.

THIS IS the sound of todays metal!!!

Where can I start with this beast?!? If you've been searching for that Disturbed sound or most any of today's metal bands amp sounds, this is what you've been searching for. The part I like most about this amp is the ability to switch between the diode or tube rectifier. Basically switch it to the modern red channel, crank everything, and switch it over to the diode rectifier in the back, and be prepared for the most intense and perfect sounding metal amp made today. Now I've played pretty much every amp out there, searching for that "chunk";the metal tone, and no matter what I play nothing to me sounds better than the Dual Rectifier. Forget about stomp boxes; this is the real thing! Now you may be wondering, "why should I get this when Mesa Boogie also makes the Triple Rectifier?" Well, basically the Triple has one extra power tube for the extra power and volume, but at those levels that extra power does little for the volume, its basically cranked already! But, if you want the best high-gain amp for today's metal that money can buy, get yourself a Dual Rectifier and prepare to feel the thumping in your chest when you chug away on this monster!!!

This amp is only good for metal. Understand that going in. The clean channel is alright but in general the amp has low headroom so it distorts easily on hot pups. The 2 drive channels lack definition and aren't smooth- very gritty and noisy. So if you're going to play heavy metal then this is great, but anything else it's a joke.

If you play shread music, this is not the amp for you. If you play traditional heavy metal, this is not the amp for you. If you playmusic like KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Deftones, or Staind, this is the amp for you. It makes a thick, crunchy, heavy, and bassy distortion sound. The clean sound sounds pretty metallic "even though it does not make the fender sound". The gain level switch does not change the style of music like Mesa said. It just boosts or lowers the gain a little bit. Great Amp. This is not a traditional high gain amp like a Pevey 5050, Marshell JCM and Rivara Knuckle head ( Even though Slipknot uses that amp."They actully sound like Traditional Metal guitar wise, but rythem based"). This is not a traditional rock amp eather. I love the sound of my 7 string plugged in this amp. When you use this amp, it will sound best if you de-tune your guitar or you plug in a 7 string or Baritone guitar in this amp. I hope this review helps you out and don't get fooled by adds.

I've played this amp many many times, and I don't see what all the fuss is about. It has four channels, and none of them sound very good. I would spend hours tweaking, trying desperately to get a good tone out of any of the channels, and it just never happened. The feel of the amps is very stiff high across the board, bended and sustained notes just seem to fade out immediately. The only reason I gave this amp over 1star is because I hate amps with too much gain, and I'm trying not to be too biased. This amp really shines however, if you either 1. Put so many effects pedals in front of it that you can't hear the origional tone anymore,or 2. Turn the gain up so high that any trace of tone or dynamics has been obliterated. Those methods are basically the secrets of artists who use these amps. I've also noticed that Mesas in general tend to make mahogany guitars like gibsons sound extremely muddy and undefined. To sum up, a lot of channels and features make you think you're dialing in awesome tone that turns out sounding aweful next to better amps. Please, do yourself a favor and try out something other than this amp before making your final descision.

this amp is just sick good. after seeing some of my favorite artists live using these heads, i decided to give them a try. i tried the dual, triple, and road kings. the dual gave such a smooth and heavy gain, i fell in love. with the different options on each channel, you can play absolutely anything with this head! the 3 switching options on each channel lets me get any sound i want and the kick of the footswitch pedal. i went with this head for 1, the amazing sound quality, and 2, the abundance of options. and obviously, its a mesa, youll need to blow this sucker up with a grenade to damage it. i play it through a mesa 4x12 recto cab slant. its just got a great, heavy, raw sound. a find alot of amps nowadays seem really compressed and almost electronic feeling. these amps are very clean, tight, beautiful, and a great honest tone. if you love amps that have a big sound and are extremely well built, look no further, the dual rec is the only amp ill ever need

ill start off by saying it has a better distorted sound than anything else ive ever used (including line 6, peavey, fender, and various distortion pedals... even together). the clean channel is good, but not great. it has a little gain to it, but you can fix it with some work

This amplifier is AMAZING!! There are what seems like infinite option when it comes to tweeking your tone. It takes a while to ship, but definatly worth the bones. I bought the Rectifier cab to match it, and honestly you won't need any pedals or any effects. Maybe a tuner cause if your like me you won't wanna stop playing this beast!! Buy now!!
