Martin
Description

The Martin TKE Tenor Acoustic-Electric Ukulele brings together the American guitar maker's time-honored craft with modern technology for amplified versatility. Built with a hand-rubbed sapele top, back and sides, the tenor-sized TKE Ukulele produces Martin's signature balanced and projecting tone. While its traditional build provides excellent acoustic sound, the uke is also equipped with Mi-Si electronics that allow you to plug in and amplify your playing. Designed with steel-string players in mind, the TKE Ukulele has a comfortable neck profile that makes transitioning between acoustic and nylon-string instruments seamless. And for safe transport between gigs, it comes complete with a protective softshell gigbag.

Crafted With Solid Koa For Resonance and Sustain

The TKE's top, back and sides are constructed from solid koa wood, prized by Hawaiian musicians for its beauty and lively tone. The koa's low density allows the TKE to breathe freely as you play, making notes bloom with richness and resonance. You'll hear the TKE's voice open up the more you perform on it, the solid wood rewarding you with sweet, singing sustain. The gloss finish accentuates the koa's dramatic grain patterns and varied hues, giving the TKE visual appeal to match its aural magic.

With a Slimmer Nut Width and Rolled Fingerboard for Playing Comfort

Martin designed the TKE Tenor Ukulele for comfortable playing feel. It has a nut width of 1-11/32", slightly slimmer than many tenor ukes. The slimmer neck profile and rolled fingerboard edges make chord shapes and melodic runs smooth and effortless. The comfortable feel encourages you to play for hours on end as you explore the TKE's musical potential.

With Mi-Si Electronics for Studio-Ready Amplified Sound

While the TKE Tenor Ukulele projects plenty of volume acoustically, the onboard Mi-Si electronics let you plug in and amplify your playing. Developed with the experts at Mi-Si, the electronics provide pristine amplified tone that retains the uke's natural acoustic characteristics. Powered by Mi-Si's Simple Jack system, the electronics offer up to 16 hours of playing time on a 60-second quick charge. With the Mi-Si preamp, you can easily adjust your amplified tone to suit any live performance or studio recording scenario.

Comes with a Gig Bag for Safe Transport

The Martin TKE Tenor Acoustic-Electric Ukulele includes a padded gig bag, providing protection while traveling to gigs or band practice. The bag's durable nylon exterior withstands scrapes and scuffs from everyday use. Its plush interior cradles the TKE, preventing dings to its glossy koa body. The bag's backpack straps make carrying the lightweight TKE comfortable over long distances. Keep your TKE safe on the go with the included gig bag.

First off this instrument is beautiful! The body and neck seem well made and comes with a very nice case. That being said the tuners on mine kept slipping and needed constant retuning. The neck was also very small for my hand. There also seemed to be dead notes when a capo was applied no matter how light or heavy I set the capo up.

Well made BUT it's got a few problems. The top nut at the tuner digs into your finger. Bad design flaw! The whole instrument has more of a concert feel than a tenor uke. The fret markers are kind of weird. They are brown and blend into the fretboard too much, The sound is ok but it's much better when amplified. I guess I was expecting a little more volume and sustain from koa wood. The koa wood itself is heavily glossed. It looks nice and the neck isn't glossed so the feel is good except for that darn nut design. It's not a bad instrument but I was kind of disappointed overall in the sound and lack of comfort in playing.
