Martin

Description

The Martin Special 000 All-Solid Auditorium acoustic guitar delivers acclaimed Martin tone and performance at an accessible price. Constructed with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid sapele back and sides, this guitar generates a bold, balanced tone with crisp highs, lush mids and tight low end. The all-solid wood construction provides incredible resonance and projection, with rich harmonics and sustain for days. Like Martin's legendary Auditorium models, the Special 000 punches well above its weight, with volume and presence suited to any gig or jam. The Special 000 lets you experience the quality of Martin for less.

Mortise and Tenon Neck Joint Enhances Tone

The Special 000 features Martin's signature mortise and tenon neck joint, where the neck is fitted into a socket in the body. This time-tested method allows the neck and body to vibrate as a single unit, producing a louder, fuller tone with enhanced sustain. The tight-fitting joint prevents energy loss across the connection, enabling a purer acoustic voice. Play softly or aggressively, and the Special 000 responds with a resonant, balanced sound.

Versatile Tone for Any Genre

With its solid-wood construction and auditorium body, the Special 000 delivers a versatile tone that suits any musical style. The solid spruce top generates crisp articulation and clarity, complemented by woody warmth from the sapele back and sides. This combination produces an acoustic voice with shimmering highs, rich mids and tight, punchy lows that flatters vocals or cuts through a mix. Whether you play rock, folk, bluegrass or pop, the Special 000 has you covered.

Premium Components and Construction

As an official Martin product, the Special 000 is built to exacting standards using premium tonewoods and components. The solid spruce top and sapele back/sides are carefully selected and finished for optimal resonance. The modified low oval neck shape offers a comfortable playing feel, while the fingerboard and belly bridge are constructed from black ebony. Die-cast chrome tuners provide precise, slip-free tuning. A durable gig bag is included for safe transport and storage.

Wonderful Value

If you are looking at a martin 000 on a budget this is it. l Absolutely wonderful feel and sound. The 000 shape definitely has a nice tonal balance across the strings. This is a very fragile guitar, so keep that in mind before you buy it. Ensure proper humidity is kept if you don't want cracks/warping. I keep it in my humidity controlled studio, so it's a very welcome addition. When the guitar arrived, the intonation was perfect. It had a relief of .010 which is very acceptable (I did end up straightening the neck a bit, to get it to .008.) Unfortunately the string height was about 12/64ths on the bass side, and 10/64ths on the treble. So keep in mind, it might need a set up out of the box. I contacted martin about factory specs since this thing isn't on their website (gc/mf exclusive.) They told me if you buy a martin, even a mexican, you get a free setup from a martin authorized repair shop (gc is not.) There were none near me, so i ended up just sanding down the saddle myself. I also used this as an opportunity to switch out the martin strings for elixers. It plays perfect now, this guitar is wonderful!

This is a one time purchase.

I took the guitar to an authorized repair shop for Martin guitars. The action needed adjusting, intonation was out, and the frets needed dressing where they extended past the neck.

  • The Martin I had been dreaming of!

I'm an adult beginner just two years in but have been dying for a Martin, as I love their signature tone and I live in PA and want to represent! As a woman with small hands I really needed a shorter scale and narrow nut width, plus I dislike rich-lite and hpl, as they are heavy in the hand. Nothing existed in my budget that had both the reduced scale and 1.68" nut until I discovered GC's exclusive. The neck suits me really well and the frets and set up on my particular guitar were impeccable. The fit and finish were also great with a beautiful, straight grain top. Now give me an all hog or sapele version and a deluxe model with gloss top and rosewood back and even a dreadnought with the 24.9" scale and I'd buy all of them. No frills, but beautiful in it's simplicity and it does have that wonderful, round, warm tone out of the box in a versatile ooo body under $1000 and on sale! Really pleased. Xoxo.

  • Best of the Road Series

I'm pretty sure I have played all the Road Series guitars except the Dred. This was the best sounding of them all. I wasn't expecting to get the 000 but I'm glad I did. Great tone imo. Did have fret buzz so needed a setup but unfortunately that's expected anymore. I do knock it a little for that.

Perfect sound from an all solid guitar and the 000 is a great size . Setup and in tune out of the box . If you're looking for a solid guitar that plays and sounds amazing , grab this . Perfect for playing live . I put a Fishman sound hole pickup and it's amazing .

I've owned Martin guitars through the years and I wanted a 000 body. This 000 Special is a quality guitar, but being a GC exclusive, for a price over $1000 it could come with a hard case. Regardless, the guitar itself is a keeper for MIM.

I couldn't be more impressed with the sound and feel of this instrument - it's absolutely first rate and it truly sounds like an all-solid instrument. The setup and frets were spot on. Oddly the pickguard is black rather than the tortoise shell as in the Guitar Center ad, but that's a minor complaint. This is EXACTLY what I wanted - an excellent guitar for outdoor gigs so I don't have to subject my Custom Shop OOO-18 to the elements. Best purchase I've made in a while!

Is the nut width really 1.687"? Seems like it's 1.75" for most (if not all) of the other Martin 000s.

    Open Reply - Ronald
That's what Martin has it listed as is 1.687"
