Martin Standard Series Acoustic Guitars

Description
This premium instrument from Martin's Standard Series combines superior tonewoods and construction with Fishman's innovative Aura VT Enhanced electronics to deliver an unparalleled acoustic experience for the stage and studio. The smaller orchestra model body provides a balanced, versatile tone suited to any musical style.
Select Tonewoods and Bracing Produce Rich, Nuanced Tone
The OM-28E features an East Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a premium solid Sitka spruce top, chosen for their tonal qualities and ability to produce a wide range of dynamics and overtones. Martin's signature scalloped X-bracing and dovetail neck joint optimize resonance and projection. The result is a rich, complex tone with bell-like highs, a focused midrange, and tight, articulate bass.
Modified Low Oval Neck Profile Enhances Playability
The OM-28E sports a modified low oval neck profile with High Performance Taper for superior playability and comfort. The slimmer nut width and flatter fretboard radius are tailored for effortless fretting and smooth playability up and down the neck. The bone nut and saddle provide maximum tone transfer to complement the guitar's premium tonewood construction.
Revolutionary Fishman Electronics Capture Natural Tone
The built-in Fishman Aura VT Enhanced electronics faithfully capture the OM-28E's acoustic properties and tone for a transparent amplified sound. The under-saddle pickup is blended with the guitar's natural resonance, allowing you to adjust the mix to your preferences. On-board controls for volume, EQ, and body blend provide tonal shaping to suit any musical scenario.
Premium Appointments and Legendary Craftsmanship
Classic herringbone binding, butterbean knobs, and an aged toner finish adorn the OM-28E, highlighting its premium build and appointments. As with all Martin guitars, the OM-28E is handcrafted using time-honored techniques passed down through generations of skilled luthiers. This fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation has produced an acoustic-electric guitar destined to become an heirloom instrument.

Martin OM28

I've gone through numerous guitars over years. I've played many alternatives ie:Takamine and Yamaha both of which are excellent value, great workmanship, sound and playability... I ended up losing lots of money trading in number guitars over the years but have finally settled on my forever guitar. My search is over! My OM28 is equipped with the LR Baggs Anthem pick up. Just a year old but already starting to open up and mellow out. It's warm, articulate, balanced.. bass and mids balanced...bell like highs but not harsh. It's true what many reviewer say.. it's hard to put down sometimes.

The om28 is very warm, balanced and loud. It has great resonance and sustain. I waited years to be able to afford a Martin. I'm not disappointed at all. The guitar plays and sounds great. It's everything you would expect and more. It really opens up to you with time.

This is my third Martin. I bought a D-35 new in 1972 (yup! I'm a geezer); A 'Sustainable Wood' 000 model in about 2005, and now the OM-28E. Until now, I primarily used the D-35 with its rich, old, deep voice. The large dreadnaught body, however, was not comfortable to play for long sessions. The mid-range SW xxx was the right size but was not a great guitar. Now, like Goldilocks, I found one that is just right. This OM-28 has a strong voice and is the most playable of my stable. My friends, who play much better than I, have raved over the action and feel of the instrument. I have found the new AURA VT sound pickup system to be, perhaps, the nicest surprise of all. It is a huge improvement over the retro-fit Fishman that I have had installed in my other guitars. As a finger picker, I can set the tone, volume, and brightness easily with the sound hole knobs and - Lordy, Lordy - ever easily change the battery. 5 out of 5 from this blond.
Found my new inspiration

I had been GAS'ing for a new Martin for a long time now. After realized I didn't want the dreadnought body shape, I figured I wanted an OM/000 size for its curvy beauty while keeping the projection and volume of a dreadnought. It came down for me to decide on a guitar that had a certain scale length, or one with either Mahogany or Rosewood tone woods. As much as I love the fundamentals that mahogany has, I couldn't get over the overtones and harmonics that rosewood had. Plus, the rosewood model in this series just looks so much better than the faus tortiseshell binding/dot inlays that the mahogany model comes with. I love the action and the feel of the neck. And it smells wonderfull. I constantly want to keep playing this instrument!

If I wanted to get a better case, a nicer vintage style Martin case, for this guitar, what model number and cost would that be? And is the better case sold by Guitar Center?
The case that comes with it is a very well built case, the only ones I know of that could be better would be a special order from Martin. Give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can special order one for you.submitted7 years ago
