collapse expand iconDescription

The 2018 OM-28 Orchestra acoustic guitar is a great example of the quality craftsmanship that Martin is famous for creating over their 185-year history. Prized for its combination of the finest tonewoods and construction techniques, the 2018 OM-28 has all the tone and sustain that you have come to expect from a Martin guitar. The smaller auditorium body is well-balanced, while being versatile enough to cover just about any musical style. The hand-fit dovetail neck joint delivers a resonant tone with lots of sustain. A solid spruce top, with 1/4" scalloped X-bracing, tunes the sound of the guitar to have just the right amount of bass, mids and treble. This is an instrument that you’ll want to play for hours.

Martin has upgraded the 2018 OM-28 Orchestra to include a modified low-oval neck with High Performance neck taper and 1-3/4" nut. It also has an aging toner, herringbone inlay, antique white binding, 5/16" scalloped X-bracing, Diamonds and Square fingerboard inlays, and a bone nut and saddle. In final assembly, the instrument receives a computerized Plek setup to dial in the action for the best possible string performance for each instrument. The result is an instrument with the optimal sound and feel. You won’t want to put this one down.

Includes a hardshell case.

I'm absolutely in love with this guitar and I believe it to be my guitar soulmate. The price was definitely a lot more than I ever wanted to spend, but it is the most beautiful sounding and most comfortable feeling guitar I ever played. It's going to stay with me till the day I die. I'm primarily a fingerpicker and this is really the perfect guitar for fingerpicking. It sounds good strummed too, but I would mostly recommend for people who do a fair amount of picking. I've only had it a couple of days, but the tone blows me away, and it's only going to sound better and better as time goes on and it opens up. The neck is the most comfortable neck I've ever played. I was having trouble consistently doing thumb chords clean, but this neck really fits my hand well I can do them with much more ease. I definitely recommend the OM-28 for fingerpickers looking for their forever guitar. Yes the price is a big pill to swallow, but when you factor in all the money lost from the endless cycle of trading in guitars & buying new ones, it's a little more tenable. In my opinion you really can't get better. There are of course more expensive Martins with more aesthetic frills, but the tone and comfort of this guitar is top notch.

When I set out to upgrade my Guild OM-140, I tried every acoustic I could get my hands on. I've owned a couple of high-end Taylor's and was leaning that way...until I started playing Martins. Since I didn't have an immediate need to plug in, the search focused on acoustics only. After trying a bunch of D's and HD's, and a couple OOOs, I saw my OM-28 up on the wall. Even though it was the last one I tried, it immediately fit like a glove. The sound is spectacular, and once set up properly, plays like a dream! The tone is bright but deep enough to compliment most vocals. What I really love are the dynamics one can achieve with this instrument. Will probably keep this one forever!

Tone is classic Martin. Bright and full sustain. Slight fret buzz on B & high E string but action is fast so it's a trade off. Sharp edge on tear drop pick guard near sound hole. Otherwise perfect.

Martins website lists this product as having a compensated bond and saddle, but here it is listed with a tusq saddle. Is this listing inaccurate, or would I need to special order with bond in the saddle?

the manufacturer is right, it looks like we have old information. I'll request to have that updated on end.
