collapse expand iconDescription

Martin Guitar knows a thing or two about pampering valuable instruments. If you’re looking for some extra protection for your fine guitar, Authentic Acoustic Silked strings are the right choice for you. They’ve adding a soft silk wrap to the ball ends of their Authentic Acoustic strings to prevent wear and tear on the bridge and bridge plate as you play. The silk wrap puts a comforting layer of protection in place every time you change your strings.

Martin Authentic Acoustic strings are engineered with the performer in mind, and they will always stand up to rigorous practice and performance schedules.

Martin start with their highest tensile-strength core wire, then tin-plate it on all six strings for added corrosion resistance; because what you don’t see matters. When coupled with the highest-quality wrap wire, you get consistent true tone that you can count on song after song.

What does "silked" mean?

Looking at the description, I wasn't sure if it had "silk" threads underneath the wrap wire. On the Martin website, "silked" seemed to refer to the windings at the ball end. I took a string apart and, indeed, it is a true silk and steel. I'm using them on a very old Gibson flat top with many repaired cracks. Also, my hands seem to be degrading where normal strings are too high tension.

Worst strings that I have ever tried.

These strings were dead out of the package, The G string was unbearable I removed the strings immediately after putting them on my guitar. .

I love these super light strings for fingerstyle. They have a nice resonant tone to them and they're really easy on the fingers and have a nice feel to them. They're very zingy when you first put them on but once you get over the initial zing they settle in nicely!

  • Definitely will get this product again.

The level of playing has nothing to do with the string. These will be good.
