Great for long practice sessions
I just started playing guitar 6 or 7 months ago and have finally gotten good enough that I enjoy practicing for more than 15 minutes at a time. The problem for me is, that ergonomically, sitting with my neck twisted toward my fret hand with my strumming hand resting on the body of the guitar is giving me some neck and shoulder pain, due to my strumming hand being so elevated while moving. I am a 5'4' woman with arms on the short side and kinda chesty, holding a full sized guitar can be uncomfortable, especially as I am a beginner who needs to fumble around with it. I searched high and low for 3/4 sized, minis, junior or travel guitars and this one by far has the smallest body with no compromise in tuning or sound issues. The strings are nice and tight and the action is low, but not buzzy. Out of the box, the guitar has some pretty thick 12 gauge bronze strings, but changing them out to lighter ones made the guitar even more comfortable for me for longer practice sessions. The sound is very good, so it is just as enjoyable to play from that standpoint. I also own a Taylor GS mini, which costs about 2xs as much, and does sound a little better, but despite being a "mini" still has a much larger body than this baby Martin. No question this is a solid practice and travel guitar for the price and a great option if you are a smaller person, or looking for an instrument for your kid or teenager.

Good playabiltiy, terrible construction.
They're great little guitars from a playability standpoint, but they have a SERIOUS construction quality problem. This is the third one I've had to buy. Eventually the top or back WILL start separating from the sides, as I guess the glue wears out? Not sure of the cause. The Guitar Center guys confirmed this was par for the course. I like the sound and playability better than the Taylor, so I keep going back. But I'm not impressed. It's admittedly stupid, but I guess I'm just treating them like disposable guitars- good for about a year of normal use. Get it together, Martin.

I play it slung on my right shoulder like a mandolin. I am 6' 2". The weigh of the neck takes a while to get use to. I have nano-coated, phosphor bronze light medium 13's on it, they play without squeaks. The little guitar shimmers and shines as I play both Jazz and Classical music with a flat pick on it. After a while it no longer feels short scale. I also raised the action to get more acoustic pop and room for punching out notes. I use a down, rest stroke gypsy picking technique. It takes about a month to really start loving the instrument. I don't go anywhere without it.

I wanted a smaller guitar that I could take anywhere and still have the big guitar sound. I love my Martin and would buy it again.
Terrible Instrument

I have been a customer of Musician's Friend for many years and have purchased many items from them. This particular guitar was made cheap, looked cheap, felt cheap, sounded cheap and was simply an inferior instrument in every respect. I have owned two Little Martins but this one didn't come up to the quality of they other ones.
I bought this on the deal of the day, I wish I'd bought two.

Beautiful guitar! I bought it for my daughter. She loves it. It doesn't go out of tune bad but just enough to have to re-tune every few times you play. I am a perfectionist though. But the guitar is perfect for what I bought it for.
