Description

The Martin HD-28E-Z Standard dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar, bringing together Martin's time-honored craftsmanship and premium tonewoods with innovative electronics for stage-ready performance. The solid spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides produce the rich, balanced sound that Martin dreadnoughts are renowned for. Now with a factory-installed L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup, the HD-28E-Z Standard delivers that sought-after acoustic tone at any volume. Versatile and expressive, this instrument is ideal for any genre from rock and country to bluegrass and folk. Experience the guitar that helped define acoustic music as we know it.

Solid Tonewoods Sing With Resonance

The HD-28E-Z Standard features a solid spruce top—hand-selected for superior stiffness and evenly distributed grain—paired with solid East Indian rosewood back and sides. These premium tonewoods provide a wide range of overtones and excellent bass response, with rosewood lending warmth and depth. The dovetail neck joint and ebony fingerboard further enhance resonance and sustain. Whether played acoustically or plugged in, the HD-28E-Z Standard delivers the coveted sound of Martin's Golden Era in a modern form.

L.R. Baggs Anthem Pickup Captures Acoustic Essence

The HD-28E-Z Standard includes a factory-installed L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup, providing a natural acoustic tone at any volume. With an internal mic and piezo pickup, the Anthem system captures the nuanced details of the solid-wood construction. On-board controls allow you to shape the tone to your needs, adjusting mic level, pickup level and EQ. Whether on stage or recording, the HD-28E-Z Standard gives you the flexibility to craft your perfect acoustic sound.

Playability Meets Tradition

While honoring Martin's timeless dreadnought design, the HD-28E-Z Standard also delivers exceptional playability. The modified low oval neck profile offers comfort and speed, with a neck width of 1-11/16" at the nut. The ebony fingerboard features 20 frets for extended range. Finished with an aged toner for a gently distressed appearance, the HD-28E-Z Standard melds heritage and innovation—only as Martin can.

It lives up to the HD28 reputation. You expect a certain sound when playing an acoustic electric. This guitar does not fall into that category. Playing it amplified using the LR Baggs Anthem electronics is a game changer! I'm very happy with this purchase.

Just a beautiful guitar. The best of Martin craftsmanship with the most amazing sound. Unplugged is loud, rich, balanced tone range with warm bass and bight treble. It is a matter of taste, but I prefer the HD over the traditional D-28. The L.R. Baggs Anthem and playability :A plus.

I have had many acoustic guitars in the past 40 years, some good and some just average but the Martin HD-28E-Z is just incredible. The sound and playability is second to none. I will use it as my go to on solo gigs from now on.

  • Better out of the box than any guitar I own!
