Description

The Martin D-X2E Macassar Ebony Sunburst dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar produces a robust sound perfect for live performance and recording. Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top with an eye-catching sunburst finish, paired with patterned high-pressure laminate (HPL) back and sides for a balanced tone with impressive sustain, this D-X2E has the look and sound of a premium Martin guitar at an affordable price. The modified low oval neck and 1-3/4" nut width provide comfortable playability, while the Fishman Sonitone pickup system delivers a natural amplified tone with simple controls.

Patterned HPL Construction Offers Striking Style

The Macassar patterned back and sides give this D-X2E a stylish appearance, with HPL providing consistent tone that is unfazed by environmental changes. The spruce top contributes articulate highs and mids, while the HPL back and sides provide a rich low end.

Fishman Sonitone Pickup System Amplifies Your Sound

The Fishman Sonitone features volume and tone controls mounted under the soundhole for easy adjustments. Simply plug in to project your acoustic tone or shape your sound for recording. The Sonitone captures the natural tone of the solid-wood top and HPL body with clarity.

Comfortable Modified Low Oval Neck Profile

The modified low oval neck has a Performing Artist taper for a fast, easy-playing feel. The 1-3/4" nut width provides comfortable spacing for chords and single-note runs. Whether you prefer fingerstyle or flatpicking techniques, this neck profile will suit your needs.

Additional Appointments Provide the Full Package

I play rock, blues, and country and this guitar can handle it all. I've had this guitar about a year, and so far no complaints, it's also one of the most beautiful guitars l own, you can't go wrong with a Martin.

  • IMO, The Best of the X-Series !

I got this one in a trade just yesterday which involved my Martin OMCX1E, which I had only bought brand new, not even 2 months ago. The previous owner had bought it brand new a few months ago but didn't take a liking to it, because it was too big for him to play. At least that's what he told me. He much prefers Auditorium sized acoustics while myself at heart, am a dreadnought guy, so this trade benefitted us both. The guitar was in immaculate condition and was already set up, so the inly thing that I did was to slap on a new set of Martin 2.0 lifespan strings which made a difference. First of all, the tone on this one , easily blows away the OMCX1E and I just love the Burst finish along with Massascar design on the HPL back and sides, which IMO, make this beauty stand out. Plus it also came with the heavy duty, Martin gigbag which is a huge plus. This one is without a doubt, a keeper.

  • I would buy this guitar again even if the price was higher.

On the Martin D-X2E what does it mean when it says Macassar Pattern HPL back and sides? Please advise.

Macassar wood is a type of ebony. This is only the color. It's made of HPL - HPL (High Pressure Laminate) is a composite material composed of a series of sheets of paper glued together with thermosetting resins. The panel is obtained by pressing the sheets of paper impregnated with the resin at high pressure and at a high temperature to obtain an extremely hard and resistant surface.
