Description

The Martin Custom Shop 28 Style Sinker Redwood-East Indian Rosewood Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar offers premium tonewoods and timeless design for serious musicians. Handcrafted with a sinker redwood top and East Indian rosewood back and sides, this guitar delivers a rich, balanced sound with shimmering highs and a tight bass response. The dovetail neck joint, scalloped X-bracing and ebony fingerboard provide exceptional resonance and playability.

Resonant Redwood Top

The sinker redwood top gives this dreadnought a warm, complex tone with impressive projection. Redwood is prized for its musicality, with a wide dynamic range and chimey highs. The wood was salvaged from turn-of-the-century buildings, giving it an aged patina and tight grain structure for responsive sound. When you strum the first chord, you'll hear why redwood is a favorite of discerning players.

Premium Rosewood Back and Sides

The East Indian rosewood used for the back and sides comes from old-growth trees, producing wood with striking figure and tonal properties. Rosewood is a traditional dreadnought tonewood, providing a focused low end, clear mids and airy treble. Paired with the redwood top, the rosewood back and sides achieve a balanced and versatile sound suitable for any musical style.

Playability and Craftsmanship

A dovetail neck joint, ebony fingerboard and bone nut and saddle provide a solid foundation for this guitar's tone and playability. The modified low oval neck profile gives you a comfortable profile for chording and single-note runs. The scalloped X-bracing and forward-shifted design help produce a broad tonal range with rich bass and shimmering highs. Built using hide glue and time-honored techniques, this guitar is made to be played for generations.

Classic Dreadnought Style

With its square-shoulder dreadnought body, Style 28 rosette and vintage-inspired appointments, this guitar has visual appeal to match its tone. The faux-tortoise pickguard protects the top while the antique white binding adds an understated elegance. For musicians wanting rosewood/redwood tone and premium craftsmanship in a traditional package, this Custom Shop dreadnought delivers.
