Celebrating 50 Years with Chris Martin IV

Martin Guitar Nazareth Factory Tour Part 1

Martin Guitar Nazareth Factory Tour Part 2

Description
The Martin CFMIV 50th Anniversary Limited-Edition D-50 acoustic guitar commemorates Chris Martin IV’s half a century leading the legendary brand to even greater heights. In addition to boasting the best-of-the-best in tonewoods, components and construction techniques, the celebratory Martin D-50 dreadnought features stunningly intricate abalone and mother-of-pearl details throughout. A collector’s piece and beautiful demonstration of master luthiery at its finest, this guitar is limited to just 50 pieces worldwide.

Premium Bearclaw Spruce Top
The gorgeous, asymmetrically patterned bearclaw spruce top provides impressive volume and sensitivity to make the most of your dynamic playing. Fingerstylists and flatpickers can equally appreciate its pronounced responsiveness, and the way chords and melodies seem to leap from the soundhole with marked clarity, articulation and resonance. Spruce is one of the most popular choices of top wood in acoustic guitars, and the Martin CFMIV D-50 makes astounding use of a choice cut.

Guatemalan Rosewood Back and Sides
The Guatemalan rosewood back and sides produce a robust, balanced tone with midrange complexity and sparkle. Strumming comes alive with deep bass and crisp top-end definition, while fingerstyle playing reveals sustain in the lows and blooming highs. The rosewood’s beauty also shines through the gloss finish for an instrument that sounds and feels as good as it looks.

Artful Inlays and Comfortable Neck
Sporting a Martin High Performance Taper profile, the CFMIV 50th Anniversary D-50's mahogany neck features an ebony fretboard adorned with an intricate abalone and mother-of-pearl inlay that extends all the way through the headstock. The rambling vines are executed with precision artistry and a level of detail worthy of an ultraclassy limited-edition dreadnought. Additional decorative splashes of abalone and mother of pearl are woven into the instrument throughout, including in its rosette, in a stripe that runs the length of the body’s back, on the bridge and on the pickguard.

Scalloped X-Bracing
Forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing reduces damping for impressive volume and articulation, allowing the top to freely resonate by pushing the architecture up toward the soundhole. Scalloping shaves mass from the internal structure, so the bearclaw spruce top can vibrate naturally with every strum, pick and pluck. Together with the dovetail neck joint, Martin scalloped X-bracing amply projects to cut through a mix while retaining nuance in more delicate playing styles.
The Martin CFMIV 50th Anniversary Limited-Edition D-50 dreadnought’s master build quality and ultrapremium appointments pay tribute to Chris Martin IV’s five decades of leadership and tireless commitment to producing outstanding acoustic instruments in the tradition of the brand. Guitarists and collectors alike will appreciate owning a piece of Martin history in this meticulously crafted, limited-edition acoustic guitar. Each guitar displays a signed, serial-numbered label indicating its limited production, and with only 50 made, the D-50 won’t be around for long.

The guitar that ruined my life (but sounds incredible)
submitted6 months ago
byEaston
fromFlint, Michigan
So, I did the unthinkable—I traded my son to a cartel for a guitar. Yeah, you read that right. But hold on, this wasn't just any guitar. It was the guitar: handcrafted, decked out with gears, and so beautiful it made angels weep. It also cost more than I could ever afford, hence, the… unconventional trade. Now, my wife? She wasn't too thrilled when she found out. "You WHAT?!" followed by a TV remote to the head. She stormed out, leaving me with nothing but my dream guitar and a lot of regret. Sure, it plays like a dream, but now the only audience I have is the pizza guy. Would I do it again? Absolutely. And man, those chords? Flawless.
