Great guitar, terrible set up

This is a spit review-once the guitar was properly set up, it became everything Martin says it is. I love playing it, the sound is magnificent, and it responds equally well to standard and open tunings. The problem came with the initial delivery of the guitar-the action was horrifyingly high-it measured a full quarter inch high on the bottom E string at the 12th fret. It was virtually unplayable, so on top of the cost of the guitar, I had to shell out another fifty to make it playable. I have a great set up guy at my local GC, but he shouldn't have had to have done this. So Martin, hear this: great guitar, lousy set up. Plecked? I think not.

Awesome fingerpicking guitar, great sound, comfortable to play, I'm totally enamored with it. For anyone looking for a good fingerpicking or blues guitar, I highly recommend.

I have a martin dreadnought and gpc. Got this one to play more blues stuff but something odd happened, I found this guitar sounds perfect for Willie Nelson songs! I love the fit and feel of this guitar. Not for everyone but a wonderful guitar if this is the sound you are going for.

I own a number of Martin guitars from OO to D size in a variety of tone woods and tops. I was looking for a guitar that I could travel with yet not loose the playability and tone that my more expensive models have. This guitar has the 1 3/4 nut width that I like and mahogany back with spruce top. It is super responsive and has nice sustain. I'm very happy with this guitar.

I have the privilege of owning many fine guitars. The Martin 000-17 is one of the guitars that I pick up most often. Is reminds me of my 000-18. But, it has a more fundamental sound. This fundamental sound is absolutely great for fingerstye playing. I also have really grown to like the satin finish. It is just so comfortable and inviting.

  • Raw acoustic sound

This is definitely not my D18 but the vintage vibe and raw sound is amazing. Set up came a little high but a little work on the saddle and it plays excellent. For me, its a great road trip guitar with some nice volume for the campfire. Looks way better in person and fits my needs. Try it!!!

When do you expect to get the Martin 00017 back in stock? Also, are you going to carry the 00l/17 in sunburst again?

    Open Reply - Beau
This guitar should be available in 2 to 3 weeks. We won't be carrying the 00l/17 in Sunburst again.
