Markbass

collapse expand iconDescription

The Markbass New York 151 Black cab is a practical, smart and inexpensive solution for those who like the sound of 15" speakers in a small-compact package. Its sound is clear and defined with great bottom ends. It can be used alone or along with either the LIttle Mark 250 Black Line Head, the CMD 151 JB Players School or the Mini CMD 151 P combo to create the perfect rig for small/medium/large size gigs.

High Quality at a Great Value
The Black Line version of the New York 151 cabinet is a very smart and inexpensive product created with the same quality control tests applied to all of our products, directly followed by our technicians during the production.

This little powerhouse is the perfect extension for either the CMD JB Players School or Mini CMD 151P combo. It's also a great option for the Little Mark 250 Black Line head or any 300W@8ohm Markbass amp like Little Mark III or Big Bang.

Wide Frequency Response
Despite its small size, this cab efficiently reproduces a wide range of frequencies, even with five and six strings basses.

Tweeter Level Control
There's a tweeter level attenuator conveniently located on the side of all Markbass cabinets. This allows you to control the tweeter output as you stand in front of the cabinet, listening to the results.

Great speaker to match with my Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp. It gives the amp more character and balance. I can tell there is a little more clarity in the sound by adding this cabinet. Plus it's light just like the amp and easy to transport. It fits perfectly on top of the amp. I also bought the covers for them so that they stay nice during transport and at home.

Great sounding cab ! The back plate's still say 200watt, but don't let that fool you, it really 300watts, just a misprint by Markbass. Super light and powerful !!!

Just an update on my review of my NY151 Black. I reached out to Markbass via their email and got a response back within less than 24hrs. I asked if the 200 watt power handling rating was correct on the back of the cabinet, or was the 300 watts specs on their site correct. They responded back that the first couple ones that they had shipped out were incorrectly labeled at 200 watts like mine. The true number is 300. I was happy to hear this and glad to see a response back so quickly!

  • Misleading Power rating.

Bought this little cab after owning, and still owning, lots of other Markbass cabs. I had planned on using this cab as one I could leave at the place I practice at since it didn't cost much. It sounds like a less expensive Markbass cab with a hollow sounding voicing, not too bad for the price, but it definitely sounds different. With the right Markbass head though you can still make the cab give you a similar Markbass tone. The only thing that makes the cab not worth keeping is the misleading watt ratings on Guitar Center's and Markbass's website. Both sites have the max power handling for the cab at 300 watts, but the cabinet's label on the back has it as only 200 watts. This will definitely effect what heads you can use and bring down its resale value.
