Does exactly what I wanted at a great price

I use these headphones for my drum practices, playing mp3s through my phone and accompanying them. The sound quality is excellent, the ear pads are comfortable, and the headband does not slip off my head (often even adjustable headbands are too big for me). After reading several reviews, I came to the conclusion that there is a quality control problem with these headphones and you might get great ones or defective ones. The price made it worth the risk, but I also listened to them in the store to make sure that the ones I got were manufactured correctly.

Not what I expected out of Marantz

I got these on sale, and they are not even worth that price. Two major problems (at least on my pair): 1) The right side develops a really annoying rattle sound during deep bass notes, and 2) The cups are round and small, and (not to say I have big ears or anything) my ears do not fit inside completely, leaving impressions on both ear lobes. I thought the sound problem would disappear after some breaking-in, but it is not happening. 'Will be returning these for something else. Very disappointed.

    I have listened to every sound device I own to see how they perform with these headphones. The frequency response is excellent, and the lows, mids and highs are nice and clear. I can pump these with earth-shaking lows if necessary, but I usually prefer accurate music and voice clarity over extra thunder, so I definitely like these headphones a lot. There are a handful of better headphones out there, but not at this price point!
