New from NAMM 2016 - Mapex Saturn V

Description
Together with respected artists around the globe, Mapex reimagined their flagship line with the Saturn IV. Now the Mapex team has taken the next step in the evolution of professional drum sets, Saturn V. These drums feature 6-ply North Americn walnut-maple hybrid shells (8-ply bass) built with two plies of maple around both sides of two inner plies of walnut. Adding the SONIClear bearing edge to the Saturn V clearly enhances the unmistakable sound and increases the tuning range of the maple and walnut shell.
The drums are also equipped with the award-winning SONIClear bearing edge and the SONIClear resonant single tom clamp as standard features on every Saturn V kit. Couple the SONIClear-edged hybrid shell with the SONIClear clamp and the tom resonance is noticeably fuller and the sustain is dramatically longer.
Along with these new features, both Saturn V MH and MH Exotic have SONIClear tom suspension, SONIClear floor tom legs, low-contact bass drum claws, Memory Mark bass drum spurs and a free-floating bass drum mount (optional). Couple all of these features together and you have rack toms with increased clarity and warmth, floor toms sounding bigger and deeper than their size, and bass drums producing a dense punch and full boom.
Additionally, these shells are crowned with Remo Emperor clear batter drumheads, and Remo P3 Batter bass drumheads. The Exotic models all come standard with black chrome hardware, while the MH model features chrome hardware. Players will have a hard time deciding on their favorite finish.
Cymbals and hardware sold separately.

I just received my Saturn V MH in Red Strata. I noticed there are two seams on the under side of the bass drum. Is that by design? Typically, with other manufacturer drums the wrap only has one seam.
