I like this snare drum it looks beautiful. Only issue I had was with the snares themselves. It's a small snare strip and gives the drum a high pitch snap. I put a 30-strand snare wire on it and it sounds awesome. Bottom line is the snare drum is a great value for the cost and it looks great too.

I bought this at my local GC after having problems with a used pearl snare I have. This drum is very affordable, but as you know, sometimes also reflects quality. In this case, I believe this snare is great quality. It sounds good an the hardware works well. My only qualm is the throw off - which I will be replacing eventually; it's kinda cheap and wobbly, but works regardless. I don't find this a huge issue considering the price. As a buyer, I would double check quality of the bearing edge and hoops, which tends to happen on cheaper gear, but usually GC will work with you if you any abnormalities. The one I bought was up to par so I'm happy I made this purchase.

I teach drum lessons, and I needed a cheaper side snare for my students to practice rudiments on. I figured this couldn't be so bad considering it's maple, and it was one of the only ones I could find in that price range made out of wood instead of metal. But it's just very poorly made. Thin hoops, rough cut tension rods, cheap snares. I returned it and bought something else.

I got it out of the box, puut it on my stand, and tuned it in 15 minutes to my liking, and even with the stock head, it sounds great!!! Best snare for the money period. I've been playing with it for a couple weeks now, and it holds its' tuning pretty well, so that's another plus. Looking for a snare?... not anymore, cuz this is a great snare. Buy it!!!

This snare is simply amazing, I has such a crisp sound and perfect pop. If you tune it tight it has a crack and pop that will cut through any sound. It has a nice rich bang to it, it is amazing for the price.

The specs say chrome plated. What about the black hardware? Is it powder coated, black plated or painted ?
