Mapex Falcon

First test on Mapex Falcon

Description
The Falcon double bass drum pedal is designed to give drummers optimal adjustment and designed to be the smoothest-playing pedals ever made. Falcon accessories also offers a direct drive for fluid, fast and responsive performance. Double-pedal users can experiment with the drives to find the right left foot vs right foot balance of feel and speed.
This pedal features a self-adjusting hoop clamp that reduces stress on hoops that, compounded with a reduced-size base plate, stabilizes the pedal. Additionally, the pedal offers independent control of beater positions at rest and the length of the row.

Features
- Self-adjusting hoop clamp
- Footboard height adjustment
- Reduced baseplate size
- Beater angle adjustment

Underrated Double Pedal!

The Mapex Falcon double pedal is fantastic! For a production level hardware piece, this is built extremely well and performs flawlessly out of the box. Its a little heavier in feel than say an Iron Cobra but it is not at all sluggish and has tons of power behind it. I play extreme metal, rock, jazz, and theater music with these pedals and they excel at all applications. The best part about this pedal is the adjust-ability and the choice to switch drives. I have the chain drive (default), belt drive, and the direct drive which are all great. I am partial to the direct drive which is fast and fluid, but also more controllable than say an Axis, while retaining power. The Falcon beaters have the choice of two wights 10g and 20g (or zero if you like super light feels), which is such a great idea. I personally love the standard 10g beater feel, as it is both powerful and very fast. As with all mass run, under $600 double pedals, the drive link for the slave could be better. Also you have to make sure to oil up all the parts on the slave side with some regularity since it starts to squeak after heavy use. I play in three bands and a theater group so this thing definitely takes abuse...but is still holding up strong! If you are looking into other pedals in this price range (Iron Cobra, Eliminators, or even DW 5002) I would strongly encourage you to check out the Falcons. Mapex is one of the most underrated brands in the industry that is making great equipment at great prices. I've owned Iron Cobras, Speed Cobras, DW 5002, DW9002, Eliminator Powershifters, Axis AL2, Axis A21, Trick Dominators, and Trick Pro 1-V's...honestly, I keep coming back to these. Highly Recommended!
Best pedals I have owned.

Straight outta the box, the left spring on the right pedal was sitting very crooked on the bearing not allowing it to move very easy. Kinda sucks because I literally just returned another product to guitar center for sending me broken equipment. I fixed it but still doesn't work as well as it should. Must be my luck. Pedals would probably be amazing it they worked right so I can't really elaborate on that. Good Luck!
Great.

This pedal is it. I have a dw 9002 that's collecting dust now as I play better and feel more comfortable on this. I'll be selling my dw now. This pedal is very smooth but it's control is what makes it the winner. I can control this pedal better than the dw. Everyone is different I know but for me this is my fav pedal. I highly recommend and serious drummers give this a test drive before buying another pedal. Plus it saves you money for your next cymbal, over 200 bucks cheaper than my dw was.

I'm not really sure what Mapex changed from the old version of this pedal to the new version, but it must have been the right choice because the pedal feels great! I use the chain version of this pedal (also available with strap or direct drive). The pedal, the case, the beater (with interchangeable weights) all feel and look great! Some of the nice features on this pedal are. Interchangeable weights, I use the 10g weight, but it also comes with a 20g or you can use the beater without a weight at all. The 10g seems to fit my playing style the best. Bass Drum Clamp- The pedal is very easy to get clamped on to the bass drum. it clips on well and stays clipped on. Spurs- The spurs are nice and beefy they keep the pedal right where you want it.
