ProFXv3 Professional Effects Mixers - In The Studio & On The Go

Description
The Mackie ProFX12v3 12-channel professional effects mixer with USB is the solution for live sound engineers, home recordists, and content creators on a budget. Now equipped with Mackie's renowned Onyx mic preamps that provide 60dB of headroom, the ProFX12v3 handles everything from gain-hungry microphones to electric guitars with crystal clarity. Simple, single-knob compression allows you to easily tame dynamics on each channel. The new GigFX effects engine offers 24 built-in effects like reverbs, delays and choruses to add a professional finishing touch. Capture studio-quality recordings at up to 24-bit/192kHz through the 2x4 USB interface and included Pro Tools | First and Waveform OEM recording software, with zero-latency monitoring for seamless overdubbing.
Renowned Onyx Mic Preamps Provide Pristine Gain
The ProFX12v3 features seven Mackie Onyx mic preamps to deliver up to 60dB of gain with low noise and distortion. Onyx preamps are renowned for their ability to capture every nuance of vocals, acoustic instruments, and more with stunning realism. Adjust input gain quickly and easily using the dedicated gain knob on each channel.
GigFX Effects Engine Delivers 24 Built-In FX
Mackie's GigFX effects engine provides 24 studio-grade reverbs, delays, choruses and more to enhance your mixes. Select your effect using the dedicated knob on each channel, then adjust parameters like decay time, modulation speed or effect level with the intuitive FX control knob. Effects can be applied on a per-channel basis, so you have maximum flexibility in crafting your perfect mix.
Simple Single-Knob Compression
The ProFX12v3 features simple, easy-to-use single-knob compression on each channel to transparently control dynamics. Twist the dedicated COMP knob to adjust the threshold and ratio of the compressor, visually monitoring gain reduction on the 12-segment LED meter. Compression can be used to subtly tame peaks in vocals or acoustic guitars, or more heavily squash drums and bass.
Premium I/O for Recording and Monitoring
In addition to six balanced XLR mic inputs and 12 balanced/unbalanced line inputs, the ProFX12v3 provides a 2x4 USB interface to capture multi-track recordings with professional quality. Record and playback audio at up to 24-bit/192kHz, with zero-latency monitoring for seamless overdubbing. A headphone output with independent level control allows comfortable monitoring of recording or playback without disturbing others.

I like this mixer but it's missing one feature
It's a good mixer, and has good FX, Hi, Mid, and low range EQ, and plenty of channels for my home studio needs. The only thing it's missing is 4x4 channels, it's only 2x4, it will only receive through USB one stereo channel, (1/2 or 3/4) I was hoping to be able to send a dedicated mix to my headphones separate from the monitors, so that drops a star. Seems you need to pay 4 digit prices for that option, at least in the searching I've been doing. It is still a good mixer and I'm happy with this purchase. I hope it doesn't crap out anytime soon like some other reviews seem to talk about. Would I buy it again? Unless it craps out fast, or if I could find a mixer that has at least 4x4 channels in a decent price range, I do think I would buy it again, yes.

Serious quality issues and zero warranty support
These boards die and die bad. I spent months filing tickets, emailing, calling and sending certified letters to Mackie attempting to get them to honor their warranty and they refused to communicate with me via any medium. I eventually filed a small claims case against them. They again refused to respond to the summons and I was awarded a default judgement which I'm sure they will refuse to pay because they know they can get away with it. Since I was no longer concerned with the sanctity of my non-existent warranty, I decided to open the unit up and see if there were any obvious reasons for the failures. What I found was truly horrific. SMD components are barely sitting on their respective pads in many locations and electrolytic capacitors seem to have been tacked on by what must have been an inebriated zoo animal. It is clear that someone was literally stabbing their soldering iron at the board with their eyes closed and they left giant, heaping blobs of flux all over the place. The fact that this thing worked for even a couple of hours is no small miracle. If you've been around for a while, you might associate the Mackie name with quality, but those people went bankrupt and sold that name to a venture capital group who calls themselves Loud Audio, LLC. Loud Audio, LLC is associated only with incredibly cheap labor at ridiculously inflated prices. I sincerely recommend that you avoid their products at all costs.

Needed additional mic channels as my band picked up two additional musicians. The Mackie ProFX12v3 was exactly what we needed: 7 mic inputs (4 with compressors), 48v phantom power, outputs to Mains, Monitors & Drums, pro effects, compact size and built tough. Excellent performance!

I added this mixer to my home recording studio. All my amps route DI through it before they output to my recorder. The preamped inputs work well for weaker signals and provide EQing help. My wet/dry/wet rig can now record all 3 guitar amps independently. Running a stereo wet board, I am now finally able to mix the wet and dry signals separately to record. This allows the recordings to come out sounding a lot more like what I hear through my amps. I can't say enough how much better my recordings sound now. There really is no comparison.
