Built a pedalboard with 7 Pedals and an effects/midi switcher, made custom cable with a solder less kit and had connection issues. Using this I was able to test all cables to find my issue quickly.

First time buying a cable tester. Used it the first time and seemed to have done the job. Second time I notice that it would show the cable was bad (no led lights on) but then show cable was good. I thought it was maybe a break/short in the cable that was the problem. Turns out that it was the battery compartment on the tester. The battery holder slips just enough that it makes you think the cable is bad. Now I have to go back and retest the cables I was going to throw out. I may have to tape the compartment down so it doesn't slip. I'd still recommend it but with some reservations.

  • Great value that saves time and hassle.

I got this after a show where we experienced strange equipment failures. This helped to eliminate bad cables as a cause. Nice, heavy feel. This looked confusing to use at first, but it's not bad once you see how a known good cable lights up compared to a defective cable.

Does the job it's designed to do, and it's pretty solidly built. A great addition to my tool case, makes checking signal paths a breeze.
