So far everything is going great, we are still learning the features and all of our questions so far have been answered with tech support. So much better than our old analog board and a lot smaller. The only issue we have seen is that the Ipad does get a little warm.

I believe I bought one of the 1st DL32's available... have been blown away by all the benefits... so it was an easy choice when we needed another mixer in a smaller venue... we have not been disappointed at all by the DL 1608's performance.
Great mixer for working band

I purchased this mixer about a year after it was introduced and have used it for a few years now. This mixer replaced my Allen & Health Mix Wizard & Snake. This is a great mixer with far more features than I will ever use. I just scratch the surface of this mixers capabilities and I get a great mix out of this unit for my 5 and 6 piece bands. Mackie has supported the product well with several software updates...each with useful improvements. You can play music on break through your iPad as long as its' docked. Some times I run music through an mp3 player when I don't have the iPad docked by just plugging the player into one of the extra channels. The wireless features of the mixer are great. I typically have an iPad and and iPad mini running and usually have the iPads just connected through wifi. I also find the iPhone app to be great for setting levels. Its easy to walk around with your iPad or phone and set your monitor and main mixes. After having 6 monitor sends on the 1608, its hard to go back to anything less. Everyone can have whatever mix they want. I have a Yamaha MG 16 XU mixer as well but only use it as a backup (which I have not needed). Once I got used to mixing digitally with all of the features I could want in a mixing setup that does not require a traditional mixer case with rack mounted effects and the weight that comes along with it...I'd never go back to a traditional mixer design. For a gigging band that does not always have the budget for a sound engineer - this is a great and well tested choice.
Good technology - could use a few more upgrades

Unlike the other Mackie Mixers that I had, this one lacks a USB port for routing music through laptop etc. Would have been nice. Like the iPad interface, although not sure if I can play the music from the iPad wirelessly. Would love to see a wifi connection to the mixer - rather than the Ethernet connection that it needs.
good

this is the first product that I've purchased lately that I've been totally stoked about,it's light weight but very well constructed. The DL 1608 has plenty of inputs for our 4 piece blues/rock band, and 6 aux sends for monitors, we use 3...the on board effects are just awesome, nice warm reverbs and delays..The downside to this product is you have to purchase a Ipad -4 ,which you have to consider in the price, which is already pricey for the average working musician. BUT the rewards for biting the bullet and buying this unit are ten fold...WE SOUND SOOO GOOD NOW

fromelyria , oh
which ipad should I buy for this mixer ? Mackie 2044387-00 DL1608 16-Channel Live Sound Digital Mixer with iPad Control
It will work wirelessly with any iPad but if you want to connect it physically to record you will need a lightning adapter for any unit that has a lightning connector interface.
