MXR

collapse expand iconDescription

The MXR Six Band EQ has been upgraded with noise-reduction circuitry, true bypass switching, brighter LEDs for increased visibility, and a lightweight aluminum housing. It covers all the essential guitar frequencies, with each slider ready to deliver +/-18dB of cut or boost for incredible control over your sound. The Six Band EQ can create scooped-mid rhythm tones with massive low end, add natural sounding warmth to a quacky acoustic pickup, eliminate onstage feed-back, and much more. You can also use the Six Band EQ in the effects loop of your amp for a huge, sculptable lead boost.

Quieter than in ages past

I bought a prior version of this pedal many years ago. It weas a noisy, pretty much useless thing. When I ordered this one, I was a bit worried about noise. Have no fear, some time in the last few decades, they've got a handle on that, and this version is indeed very quiet. The LED's that show power on and the eq curve in teh dark are a nice touch.

MXR M109S Power Problems

Nice for tone tweaking, but first time out the external power source jack kept shorting out during live paid performance. When I tried using a standard 9v battery I discovered the internal circuit board was mounted so low in the pedal body that you couldn't fit the battery into the pedal. Not sure if it's an MXR design or manufacturing error but it rendered a nice sounding pedal undependable and unusable.

Pretty easy to use for any player who wants to dial in their tone. I suggest using a power supply rather than 9v battery. It's harder to get to with 4 screws. Lost a little sustain with pedal but resolved with compressor. Be patient when dialing in the eq…play with it look up videos.

Excellent little 6 band pedal. Does exactly what you want it to and much more. It really brought life to my tone. I play thrash a lot and this pedal got me awesome Megadeth tones. I've ran it through the front of the amp and through the fx loop. Seems more responsive through the loop. Try one players.

This pedal does have level boosting but it is minimal. This is more of a tone shaping pedal.
