This cajon seems very well made and the Makah Burl faceplate is gorgeous. Acoustically, tone is as good as expected. It's a simple, yet versatile instrument. However, the passive piezo pickups in the cajon don't work with any of my amps. No sound came through the amps even with the volume on both set to the max. It does work when I run the cajon pickups through a DI device. For example, got the pickup to work with an MXR bass DI+ or a Tech21 FlyRig into my amps. (Neither of those are intended for this type of use, but it's what I had on hand.) Also works through my Scarlett 2i4 into my laptop. It might work better with a more sophisticated mixer/PA or amp or it could be user error on my part. Just be aware that you may need to add something to your setup to fully utilize the pickup function. As an acoustic instrument, it's great.
