    The first mallet was defective. The wood handle was molded into the silicon ball off-center, so it resembled a club instead of a mallet. Returned it and got another...that one was off-center as well but not nearly as bad. I bought it and a Meinl singing bowl as a gift and am a bit embarassed by this. Be cautious of Meinl products...it may be a German company but most of their items are made in China.
