The MEINL Sonic Energy 9-note Octave Steel Tongue Drum is a steel tongue drum built around an octave-based note layout and compact sound control. Tuned to F# minor at 432Hz, it features a central bass note surrounded by eight tongues, each made of paired reeds that sound in two octaves, creating a handpan-like tonal response with clear pitch separation and controlled sustain. The drum includes a rear sound hole that can be closed with a silicone plug to tighten projection, along with three silicone feet to prevent slipping during play. It can be played with hands or with the included two wooden mallets with rubber heads and is designed for lap or tabletop use. Lastly, a zippered carrying bag with handle is included for transport and storage.
