If you don't enjoy sitting on top of a traditional cajon and worrying about sound issues/mic placement for live performance, this can solve a lot of those issues. The pickups bring a lot to the table, but I would say it's personal preference on whether this can replace a normal cajon.

  • Probably not

When I first started playing it I was not impressed with the snare sound. Unlike the slap tops I watched on YouTube that do not have the pick up, this one only has snares on the left side. However when I plugged the cajon into an amp the sound was much better and the snare more responsive. Sort of like an electric guitar I guess.

  • Not a good product.

The snare does not work. Could probably get the same quality of sound from a coffee can.

  • Whew. I'm in love.

This was one of my best purchases of the Tax return season. I can not express enough how great this box is, and how versatile it is. I have it going through an old Line 6 amp, and have been playing with different effects. The traditional clean and reverb are a great constant setting with any jam; but once you dig deeper with the delays, phasers, echos, and effects, the result is limitless. I have been making hip hop inspired beats to dub step while utilizing feed back and hand techniques. The best part is how easy it is to control once you get experimental. You'll notice how many "sweet" spots there are and how many sounds you can get from different techniques. My buddy picked it up for the first time after I had it for a couple weeks and was blindly making noises when I noticed a few new ideas just from watching him. Great buy for anyone looking for a nice percussion addition to your arsenal, as well as anyone looking to get experimental.

playing out live with hard rock band unplugged original music - love being able to plug to p.a. with quarter inch jack by doing that gives you more level control than using external mic - i have been using drum for 4 weeks still experimenting very impressed with all the different sounds you get by using fingers, palm, hand, cupped hand, fingers off the edge, etc. i would recommend this product highly

As long as it takes 1/4" input it should work.
