MEINL

Description

These brass alloy models HCS crash/ride cymbals sound and look great, and let you get into playing MEINL at very realistic prices. The HCS series from MEINL Cymbals is designed to offer all of the cymbal types and sizes normally found in professional lines to beginners, in order to deliver the same sound options a working drummer may look for. The HCS 18" crash/ride blends the cutting "ping" sound found in a ride cymbal with a smooth crash effect when played as a crash cymbal. The size and weight of this model makes it useful for a multitude of purposes. The HCS crash/ride has excellent stick definition and a clear, penetrating bell with warm undertones and a medium sustain. When heavier moments arise in the music, it makes for a perfect crash cymbal. MEINL HCS cymbals are recommended for any style of music a beginner may be getting into while exploring their sound.

These are not those distractingly cheap, flimsy prop cymbals that come with most drum sets. No, MEINL HCS cymbals have impressive sound and sturdy feel geared toward beginner/intermediate players. Playing HCS cymbals will sound more like what you hear in actual songs, making the drums even more fun to play. Plus, they aren't going to fall apart, dent or bend after a few uses like stock cymbals.

Say they are great

I bought this Crash/Ride to round out my set of MEINL HCS cymbals. I have the HCS 14" Hi-Hat, the HCS 16" Crash and the HCS 20" Ride. My instructor said they were great sounding and really good for practice and good enough for performing. What could be better for the student than inexpensive, great sounding cymbals. MEINL HCS cymbals rock!

Great starter cymbal to build from

For a beginner just starting out on a budget, the 18" HCS Crash/Ride paired with a set of 13" HCS Hi-Hats is a great way to get the basics for a 4 or 5 piece kit at as low a price as possible. From there, should you add a dedicated ride, this easily moves to being a primary crash cymbal. Not a whole lot of projection, but it is of surprisingly good quality given the price. I personally have mine mounted over my 20" HCS Ride for an added ride option and primary crash.

I bought this cymbal because I wanted to replace the 16'' crash ride that came with a drumset I bought. I didn't want a super expensive cymbal, just something that got the job done. This (18'') crash-ride did just that. It may not be the best sounding cymbal but its worth the price.

  • One of my favorites so far

Nice sound for a novice. I feel the lighter strikes allows for better transition and response. Got 20 inch ride only, and 16 inch crash being delivered today. Not a brand snob I chose to stay with same Meinl HCS for consistency. Hasn't disappointed so far.

I use this as mainly a ride in my 4 piece. Sounds great, doesn't wear down easily. Great cheap cymbal. Recommend to anyone who wants a great cymbal at a cheap price.
