Description

The Artist Concept Models are a collection of cymbal voices. They are the product of Meinl Cymbal Artists and the Meinl R&D team. The goal was to craft unique and innovative sounds that allowed the artist to explore, create and forge ahead as leaders in acoustic music and in the art of drumming.

"What I really like about my Deep Hats is that they have so many musical applications. They fill the sonic gap between my main hi-hats, and my crashes. I play them half open as a time keeper, very similar to crash-riding, however the Deep Hats sound softer and more articulated. That is something I prefer. They have the right amount of wash and trashiness, combined with a soft, dark tone. Absolutely perfect for my style of playing. " – Anika Nilles.

The Deep Hats consist of a sand blasted 18 in. Byzance top cymbal with holes to dry out the sound and a traditional finish 18 in. Byzance bottom cymbal. Included with the cymbal pair is the Meinl X-Hat Auxiliary Hi Hat arm to mount the cymbals on your kit.

This is a great set of cymbals honestly. As opposed to the Sabian AA sick hats, they are lighter and less dry, getting a different sound out of a similar concept. Also, these aren't technically original cymbals, it's just two crashes. So, in buying these, you will get 3 things: 1. A set of interesting and trashy 18" hats. 2. A stack that can make a very trashy and washy sound to enhance your texture. 3. If you don't want those two things, you can simply use both cymbals as separate crashes. Overall great product, shouldn't be taken as a rip-off for just having a similar format, you could say the XIST ION china is copying the Sabian Holy China, but similarly, that's just wrong. Every cymbal company does different things with similar ideas, it shouldn't be a competition.

  • Just "buy" the sabian sick hats.. These are just rip offs !

Just but the sabian sick hats as they are less and I'm no sabian exclusive endorser but I've always played two 18in cymbals of some sort as a hi hat and the guy" I think his name is "daddy Dave" can e up with the sick hats and doesn't get much credit for it with sabian. Check him out on you tune as he is original and interesting.. Now everyone's going bigger along with the price.. The sick hats are cheaper and far mor interesting.. This is just trying to copy and cash in this the 18 in size. They should've gone 17 or 19in.. Why the heck not?
