M-Audio M-Track Solo 2-Channel USB Audio Interface

Description
M-Audio's M-Track Solo is a portable 2-in/2-out USB audio interface that provides pristine 16-bit/48 kHz audio quality for Mac and Windows. Featuring premium components throughout, the Solo was designed to capture studio-quality recordings on the road or at home. The Solo comes equipped with transparent preamps, and direct monitoring for lag-free recording.
Crystal-Clear Preamps Provide Pristine Sound
The Solo features transparent preamps to capture vocals and instruments with stunning clarity. Featuring an XLR/TRS combo jack, you can plug in microphones, guitars, keyboards and more. Precision digital converters support sample rates up to 48kHz for recording and monitoring.
Low-Latency Monitoring for Real-Time Playback
Thanks to the Solo's powerful DSP, you'll experience near-zero latency when monitoring recordings and playback. This allows you to overdub tracks in real time without the lag that can disrupt your creative flow. The 1/4" headphone output has a dedicated volume control, so you can adjust monitoring levels on the fly.
Take Your Studio on the Road
Compact and durable, the M-Track Solo is ideal for mobile recording on a laptop. Its solid chassis protects the components inside, while the slim profile allows it to fit easily into any gear bag or backpack. For portable power, the Solo can run on USB bus power from your computer or an optional AC adapter.
Seamless Software Integration
The Solo comes with Ableton Live Lite and other music software to get you recording right out of the box. You'll also get access to the M-Audio M-Track Series Software Bundle, which includes guitar effects, virtual instruments and more. Compatible with all major digital audio workstations, the Solo slots seamlessly into any computer-based studio.

The reason only 4 stars just because I was expecting to get the basic Pro Tools that should come with the package. IT'S NOT ANYMORE! The solo itself does its job perfectly!

I have a microphone with a USB or c type connector. Would I need an adapter to use that microphone with this device? I'm trying to use this microphone to record singing and want to be able to hear the voice while recording
Yes, you would need an adapter or a different microphone to use it with the M-Audio M-Track Solo, depending on what kind of USB/C mic you have. Here’s the situation: The M-Audio M-Track Solo only accepts: XLR (standard mic cable) and 1/4" (TS or TRS) instrument cable. If your mic is a USB-only or USB-C-only microphone: Those are designed to plug directly into a computer or phone, not into an audio interface like the M-Track Solo. They don’t output an analog signal — which is what the M-Audio expects — so a simple adapter won't work. Option 1: Use a different mic: Use an XLR microphone (like a Shure SM58 or Audio-Technica AT2020 XLR version). That will plug directly into the XLR input on the M-Track Solo and let you monitor in real time through headphones plugged into the interface. Option 2: Record with your USB mic directly to your computer Skip the M-Audio interface and just use the USB mic straight into your computer. Use software like Audacity, GarageBand, or a DAW to monitor and record. You might be able to monitor your voice live, but it depends on the software and your computer's latency. Option 3: Adapter + audio routing (advanced & not ideal). You could technically use software routing tools (like Voicemeeter on PC or Loopback on Mac) to combine the USB mic input with the audio interface’s output for monitoring. This gets messy and isn’t great for live or serious recording. The M-Audio M-Track Solo is great for zero-latency monitoring if you use an analog mic (like XLR). That means you'll be able to hear yourself as you sing, with no noticeable delay — but only with the right kind of mic.submitted3 years ago

Is the inclusion of Pro Tools a free alternative to the yearly/monthly subscription or is it just a means to install the software and must be paid for separately?
It's a demo (introductory) version
