Luna Gypsy Spalt Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Luna's specially designed neck profile insures a comfortable playing experience that puts challenging notes and chords within easy reach. Luna's exclusive "moon phase" inlaid fretboard markers, also made from mother of pearl, trace the length of the balsamo fretboard over the mahogany neck.
Updated for 2015, Gypsy acoustics are perfect for students and adults wanting Luna's design aesthetic at a very affordable price. They're also an excellent option for accomplished players who want a great-sounding, but low-cost guitar for impromptu songwriting sessions or performances.

Great guitar but test drive first
I've been looking at this guitar for a bit, and finally found one that was right in all the right places: good straight neck and fingerboard, no "vampire" frets sticking out, nicely set action, straight soundboard and all around good construction integrity. You do get what you pay for: this is an inexpensive guitar intended for students and players who might give it a try for a bit, and then give up. I suspect many of these guitars are sitting in closets gathering dust. If you do your homework, you can end up with a very nice one. This one is just what I was looking for. It has a deep, rich sound and good tone. It's really optimized for strumming, although a really good guitar player could play anything on it. The onboard electronics are decent, and it sounds great through my Fishman amp. I would spend some time at your favorite Guitar Center store and keep checking them until you find "the one." I'm totally pleased: for less than the cost of a couple of amusement park passes, I have a great little axe that should be around for a while.

I wouldn't buy again or recommend
I bought this about a year ago, a time when I knew nothing about guitars, so I went off looks. I originally had an Epiphone d100, I think, and I broke that by accident, looked for another acoustic. This one popped out from the rest given the beautiful design, and at first I liked it, not so much now though. The action is way to high, neck is to wide, maybe some like it that way, but for others like me, I don think reccomend. So don't be fooled by the looks, it's not as great sounding as it looks.

Good guitar for the price

I fixed the action on this guitar with the truss rod and it plays WAY better now. Good low end and high end, decent vibrant sound for the price. Trust me, I know the action on these guitars is high, but fix it with the truss rod and you're golden. Plays pretty well for a cheap guitar.

Bought this guitar for my wife in Nov 2020 as she fell in love playing it! Thinner profiled neck to aid those with smaller hands. Barre chords were easy and the string height was perfect. Preamp is decent but can cause some feedback if not careful. Definitely a good started guitar and good for those with smaller hands.

beautiful looking and sounding guitar. everything is good on it. only bad part is you need to tie the strap on by the neck, not that big a deal but still annoying sometimes.
Beautiful guitar but has it's limits

This is a truly gorgeous guitar, but it badly needs a set up. Once set up, it's a good living room guitar and it looks great displayed. However the couple of times I took it on stage, I noticed it can be overdriven. It has a limit and playing it harder doesn't produce any benefit. This makes a good practice guitar but pass it up for performances.

When I first got this guitar as a novice, I was underwhelmed. I thought it sounded flat, and sounded toy-ish. However, as my playing technique and general knowledge of guitars improved, I realized there were some adjustments I could make to improve the sound. Getting a full set up from a luthier, and changing my string and pick selection really improved the sound of the guitar. I also got better at shaping and accenting my strumming which helped me dig into the previously unknown depths of the instrument. I do plan on upgrading some time in the future, but this has been my go-to performance guitar for the past several years, and I have no shame admitting I bought it for a buck-ninety-nine. This guitar from my understanding is marketed towards beginners/intermediates. To those who may critique its sound, yes, it ain't a professional guitar. Intonation up to the 12th fret is close to perfect, the neck and fingerboard is super comfortable, and tuners are precise for a beginner instrument. But if you're a beginner and have this guitar, try experimenting with different strings, picks, get it set up, or gain some experience before giving up on it. I truly believe the sound from this guitar if used by a beginner may not be a true reflection of its sound, it's really an acquired taste/sound. I love this!
