Unit was totally fine but I was not able to use it as I was attempting to send signals from devices to the splitter instead of in reverse. Livewire gear is great quality for the price and the item operated as intended. Additionally the gear has a lifetime warranty similar toe Mogami and others.

This splitter was the exact thing I needed to have some help when tracking vocals. Haven't had any issues with it whatsoever. #sweepstakes

Can this be used to send a stereo signal from a trs output on one pedal to two separate mono inputs on another pedal? Specifically from an analog compressor in stereo to dual mono inputs of a Boss Re-2 Space echo? When I tried this, I got an unbearable loud oscillating hissing sound. Was I misusing this adapter?
Yes, you were misusing the Livewire Essential Y-Adapter 1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" TS Female in this scenario. Let’s clarify what's going on: What that adapter is designed for: Splitting a balanced mono signal from a TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) output (like from an audio interface or mixer) into two unbalanced TS (Tip-Sleeve) outputs. Not intended to split stereo TRS into two mono left/right channels. Your specific situation: You're trying to split a stereo signal (TRS = Left and Right channels) from a stereo analog compressor into two mono inputs on a Boss RE-2 Space Echo, which accepts dual mono (left and right input). Why the adapter doesn’t work for this: The Livewire Y-Adapter you mentioned splits balanced mono, not stereo. When used with a stereo TRS signal, it doesn't correctly separate Tip (Left) and Ring (Right) into independent outputs. As a result, you're essentially shorting the left and right channels together or misrouting them, which can cause noise, phase issues, or — as you heard — oscillating hissing. Correct solution: You need a stereo breakout cable like this: 1/4" TRS Male to Dual 1/4" TS Male (Insert-style or stereo breakout cable) Example: Hosa YPP-118 or Hosa STP-201 This cable is designed to split stereo TRS into Left (Tip) and Right (Ring) via two TS jacks.submitted6 years ago
