Simplifying my gig rig

I am a rhythm guitarist and keyboard player and was looking for modernize and simplify my guitar setup for my gigging band. I downsized from a 2X12 combo amp with an array of stomp boxes. I am planning to use this without stomp boxes and just use the internal sounds. I have been programming it most of the weekend getting ready for a gig next weekend. It is great to program it using an iPad and also great to be able to search for sounds in the cloud library with thousands of selections. I have been able to quickly create the patches I need for the gig. Also I have the original FBV Shortboard (MK1) and although it is NOT list as being compatible with the amp works flawlessly with it. I also do recording using Ableton Live and Logic and the USB integration to simply record your guitar into a DAW is drop dead simple and sounds nice

great amp for practice, not great for live performance

I have to say, I've been a fan of line 6 products for a while, from their spider iv amps, their uber metal pedal and the hd500 multi effects, but I went to guitar center to test it out since I got concern when I watched the video that line 6 used as demo (which they already erased due to negative response), and If it wasn't for the sound I probably wold be the owner of a spider v. I spend a lot of time playing and tweaking that amp at gc store, and even tho a lot of people love the sound and got interested in the amp due to what I was playing and the sound, I gotta say I couldn't achieve the tone I wanted. the clean sounds are awesome! and there's so much you can do with it, from effects, to pick cabinets, tweak EQ, you can achieve pretty much any sound with it (as long as you don't mind the tone). Over the years I've notice more and more companies trying to get a more valveske sound when modeling but line 6 unfortunately still sounds digital, I tried and tried for a long time to get that squealing sound that you can only get with nice EQ, some clean amp gain and post amp gain, and nothing! you really can't get rid of the emulated tone, it sounds tiny and fake no matter what you do. I know I'm complaining but I really got dissapointed with the sound, I got excited with all the features, great wireless system, effects, speakers, but I guess that all comes with a cost and in this case is the high gain tones, which in my opinion, I prefer to get another amp and buy line 6 wireless system independently. I mean I wanted to buy the 240w version of the spider 6 and on top of that the relay, when I could get my favorite distortion from a peavey vypyr vip and deal with cables or buy the relay. Don't take me wrong, the amp sounds great but it is for begginers, and if you are planning on using it for recording then go better for a line 6 HD 500 or a digitech rp1000 for less than the amp

We bought this amp for my son. He used it a lot at first. Sounded great for a non professional. He went to college and came back. When he tried to use it the thing wouldn't work. The lights come on and everything seems ok but no sound. This seem to be common since I was trying to find ways to fix it. There doesn't seem to be any way to repair it that I could find. We bought it in Nov 2018 so he used it for about a year and a half. After the first couple months when it was new it didn't get used that often. Disappointed.

I bought this amp for my jam room/home studio. Not only do I love it but, my guitar playing friends love it too. They have three options, playing through my P.A., or my Crate 60, which has always been a great little amp or my new Spider V 60 60W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp. Everyone wants the new Spider, especially when playing acoustics or dialing in a great lead sound. Very happy!

Bought as a refurbished unit, however, it was DOA and sent it back. MF offered to sell me a new replacement unit at the retail price. Customer service would certainly be questionable from this offer not to mention the quality control put into Line6.

What is the difference between this and the mk2?

    Open Reply - Beau
The MKII is the newer version. The aesthetics are the only differences between these two models. The knob tops and silkscreen, that's it. The Spider team felt that the RELAY wireless capability wasn't obvious enough, and the new Classic Speaker Mode made such a big sonic improvement, the Spider team decided to rev the panel and call it MkII.

The lower wattage however does not have this feature. The Line 6 Spider V Models 60W and up are all wireless ready.

This amp would also work with an electric bass but is only recommended for use with a guitar.
