Not bad, but not the best choice
I was looking for a 15-25 lb amp that would be easier to lug around for jam sessions so I bought this and a couple days later, bought the Vox AD30VT because I was a bit unhappy with the Lin 6. Actually, I wasn't really that disappointed... more than anything, I couldn't get a 'clean sound that would overdrive when picked hard' type of sound which is what I really like. On the 4 channels, the clean channel is dull and lifeless. I'm used to older Fenders and this is their strong suit. The Line 6 has a clean channel, but that's about it. It sounds about like plugging directly into a board. The Crunch is not impressive either. There is no Rolling Stones sound in here! I spent hours trying to get the sound that it took two seconds to get with the Vox. No comparison. If you want that 'on edge of breakup sound', the Line 6 is NOT the amp for you. The Metal channel is OK, but I suspect most users will skip it. The Insane channel is actually very decent with LOTS of sustain. With either a bridge humbucker or even a bridge single coil, I felt very nimble doing basic soloing. To be honest, it was confidence inspiring and is probably slightly better than the best super overdriven Vox channels. On the effects, again... there's no comparison and the Vox wins hands down. With the Line 6, you basically have about 2% control over the effect and the actual sound quality is just radically better with the Vox. With the Line 6, I couldn't even get a nice roomy reverb sound going at all. On the other hand, with the Line 6, the effects section is VERY easy to use. At this moment, the Vox costs $90 more than the Line 6. If you are over 16 years old and want more than just the pure sustain from the Insane channel of the Line 6, I'd HIGHLY reommend the Vox over the Line 6. If you can swing it, it'll probably the best $90 you spend on your sound.

It was ok...
Well I got this amp about a year ago and I loved it. But now I want to play metal and do other stuff and the sound just doesn't sound right. I don't know, it is good if you just want to have something to practice with.

This is the only amp I have. I'm just starting out; I've been playing for about five months now and this is all I need. It's a great practice amp that is loud enough to be able to hear yourself when you play with another person. All of the channels and effects on the amp are great, and for the price, I think it's gotta be one of the best amps out there.
Spider II 30 amp

The Line 6 spider II amps are very good quality amps in general. I tried this one at GC and was amazed at the sound quality and the number of effects for the price. Instead of this one though; I stepped up to the Spider II 112. I bought it for a bargain at $199. If you have the money, I'd recommend you step up to the 112. Unlike this one, it has 12 preset amp models and 75 watts of power! I haven't seen it online recently but try a local store; they might have it. The 30 is still is an excellent amp and is definitley worth the price but if you can afford it; step up to the 112 and you'll be glad you did. Note: One of the setbacks of both amps is you don't have much freedom with the effects as you would a standard pedal but they are still good quality and worth the price.

I had a chance to play the Line 6 Spider II 30 Amp at guitar center and it sounded great. Its sound was very precise and it had alot of gain. It went very loud though I didn't get to test it full potential because of being indoors.
