Line6 Relay G10S Wireless System | Review

Description
The Line 6 Relay G10S wireless guitar and bass system offers professional features, rugged build quality, and plug-and-play operation in a compact platform. The Relay G10S system integrates seamlessly into any pedalboard or can function as a standalone unit. It features an impressive range of up to 130 feet line-of-sight, enabling you to move about untethered on any stage.
The Line 6 Relay wireless family has been embraced by professionals for the range's reliability, ease of use and transparent sound, and the Relay G10S receiver is no exception. Plus, it's compatible with the Relay G10, G30, G50, G55 and G90 guitar wireless systems.

Unbox and rock
Getting started with the Relay G10S is simply a matter of turning it on—no complicated setup required. Once powered up, the unit immediately locates and locks onto the strongest available wireless frequency, and you’re ready to rock. You can also adjust the frequency selection manually, which is helpful to avoid interference with other band members using wireless units.

Relay G10S is built to gig
The Relay G10S features a rugged metal housing designed to withstand the rigors of gigging. And RF and battery status indicators are conveniently located on the face of the pedal, making it easy to monitor system status at a glance.

Hear your true sound
Relay G10S offers pristine, 24-bit lossless digital audio quality. It’s equipped with Cable Tone, a proprietary Line 6 technology that matches the sound and response of an actual guitar cable for additional realism.

It's easy to power up and play
As the Relay G10S is designed to fit on your pedalboard along with your favorite effects, it features a convenient 9V DC power input. You can either use the included power adapter cable or connect it to a plug from your pedalboard's power supply. On the instrument side, the G10T transmitter runs on a rechargeable battery that lasts for eight hours. What's more, the battery automatically enters sleep mode when you're not playing, significantly extending how much playing time you can get from a single charge. When you’re ready to recharge, just plug the G10T into the Relay G10S receiver, and it automatically begins recharging.

Choose your output
Relay G10S is equipped with two different outputs, making it extremely versatile. In addition to a standard 1/4" jack for connecting it to your pedalboard or amp, there’s also a balanced XLR output that allows the G10S to be used as a wireless DI box for applications such as connecting acoustic guitars or basses directly to a PA.

Correction to a bad review I gave the G10S a few weeks ago
A few weeks ago I gave this product a bad review saying I would not recommend this to anyone. That has changed., So I am writing this to set the record straight. I have the original G10 relay and it has always work flawlessly. I bought this new version along with a new guitar and went to use it at a gig the next day and it would not transmit a signal to the receiver. The next day I took it back to the store in an attempt to find out way it would not work. Myself and the techs at the Guitar Center after and hour could not figure out why it would not work in my guitar or even many other guitars we tried also. So I decided to return the product and later that day I gave it a bad review on here. That review was wrong. I was wrong on how good this product is. I finally figure out what the problem was. It was a very simple fix. While looking into the wiring of the G10S relay and my old G10 relay and the wiring of my new guitar I discovered that line 6 developed a little push pin on the G10 so that when push in it will let the signal transmit to the receiver. If is not pushed in it will not transmit. Come to find out not all guitar jacks are made equal or should I say to a complete standard in size. Some jacks wont push this pin in when you plug the transmitter in to the guitar. The simple fix to it is to use the right angled T/S jack that line 6 gives you with the both relays. This allows the pin to be pushed in and the relay transmits flawlessly. Great design on the part of Line 6 because when you gig and stop for a break you don't have to completely remove the transmitter from the guitar so you can't set it somewhere and during the break and forget where you set it. Just pull it out a little and the circuit is severed, you wont even drain the battery on your guitar during your break. When I figured this out last night I got the "What a Dummy Award" hands down. So just to set the record straight this product defiantly lives up to what line 6 is all about, quality.

Great in theory; practical not as much.
I use it for playing at home primarily. That was I am not worried about cables getting in my way. I can also unplug this without any amp feedback. I run this through my line6 helix LT then out to a fender amp. So; battery life. 2 hours. Advertised was 8, and firmware update supposedly took that down to 6. I get about 2. That's a huge drawback. Also; the signal keeps cutting in and out between the transmitter in the guitar and receiver on my desk. There is always line of sight and no other interference. Max distance is about 10 feet at most. Great product; I love Line6's products; but this could have been done better. All in all; would I recommend to a friend? I'm on the fence. I would; but with some caution.

I've had the box open for less than 6 hours and the signal loss is CONSTANT. I returned the Micro USB Line 6 G10 for the G10s in hopes that I could put this one on the pedalboard with the 9v connection. The cheaper line 6 NEVER had these issues.
Fantastic! I bought another one!!

Incredibly easy to use and very, very reliable. The multi channel function meant I could get another one for the rhythm guitar player without any signal conflict. Battery easily lasts a set, recharges quickly and range is more than sufficient for most stages. And very reasonably priced. Sure, more expensive units have advantages, but value-for-money is spot-on.

As much as I love Line6, owning the Helix, SpiderValves, PODS. I thought id buy the line6 wireless. I've owned it for about 6months now. The battery life is horrible. I'm only getting about 1hour of playtime now. When it was new I was getting about 3-4hours of battery life.
The unit will not charge. Returning.

I'm not one to get out in the crowd and into people's business while I'm playing but I would like to go to the other side of the stage and rock out with my other guitar player and not have my lead singer, bassist, ot myself tripping over my cable. So I finally decided on the Line6 G10s and I'm glad I did. It works as it should and gives me the freedom I never had before. It sounds exactly the same as having a cord and easily and silently unplugs for switching guitars or charging between sets. Get one, you won't regret it.

Does this unit work with Acoustic-electric guitars?
Yes it will. It replaces the cable so anything with a 1/4" connection it will work with it.
