Line 6
Description
Start your signal chain with the best possible version of your guitar tone using the Strymon Compadre dual voice compressor and boost. Treat your guitar signal to true studio-quality analog compression with two distinct voices for smooth transparency or vintage squeeze. Hit the Boost switch to add clean boost or soft-clipped dirty boost, with the EQ curve of your choice. Mix in some dry signal for natural attack even with extreme compression settings. Feel the perfectly tailored dynamic response, feeding your amp and effects just what they need to sound their best.

From pickups, tubes and capacitors to speaker cabinets—the aspects of a rig that can be upgraded or changed are nearly endless. Plug in Compadre and you may find you already have everything you need for the tone you’ve been seeking. Bring out your amp’s character in ways you never thought possible. Compadre’s Class A JFET input circuit, studio-quality analog compression and musically voiced analog boost circuits all work together to make your amp sound like it was just modified by a world-class boutique amp designer.

Perfect for the average player

Still in the "honeymoon phase" but so far loving this thing. Haven't noticed any of the issues other reviews mentioned (delayed switching, weird noises, etc) but I got mine after they released the latest firmware update that was supposed to fix that. Mine had the initial release on it, so I updated it right away and did a factory reset and pedal recalibration before I tried to use it. So far so good! I had a bit of trouble with the initial bluetooth pairing and connecting to the app on my iPhone, but finally got it sorted out with a bit of fiddling and it's been rock solid every since. Seems once you get it connected it works well. I LOVE the ability to use my phone to wirelessly edit patches. I'm coming from a Flextone 3 XL using Line 6 Edit on a Mac plugged into a MIDII interface, and there is simply too much setup involved with that. Also had a Fender Mustang along with the FUSE software, and again, I hated having to drag out my computer when editing patches. Fiddling with the knobs on either amp was a pain as well. Now all I do is grab my phone, which is always next to me, open up the app, and tweak away. I'm still learning, and want to easily mimic songs that I'm learning without too much fiddling. Being able to search for a song, instantly load it, tweak it a bit for my setup, and get to playing within a few minutes is AWESOME! Sure it's not as tweak able as a HD500/X, but to be honest, I never used all of those settings to begin with and there is still MORE than enough tweak ability with this thing. Way more settings than I care to adjust. Sound quality is great, and thus far has been the best headphone out I've used for practicing guitar (although still not great). Sounds every bit as good and BETTER than either my Flextone 3 or Mustang patches, with even more amps and effects to choose from. I am more than happy with this thing! It is so much easier to use, get good tones, and still have plenty of tweak ability. Now I'm an average user, not a hardcore power user, and don't gig at all, unless you count a drunken Star Spangled Banner on the 4th of July at a buddy's house a gig lol. BUT if I did want to tweak my settings when drunkenly performing at my buddy's house, all I have to do is bust out my phone which I already have on me and tweak away, no need to bring a laptop. If you're a hardcore user that likes to build custom tones from the ground up with infinite tweak ability then I'd say go for the HD500/X, but if you're an average user like me who just wants to get a good (but still tweak able) tone to play your favorite songs easily, get it! Sounds great, and love it!

Would be great if Line 6 still supported the firehawk fx!

I use the firehawk fx at home for recording. I like the effects and amp models and being able to search for different tones but that's it.. The fact that the firmware will probably never get another update and the fact that the patches can only be edited with Android, iPhone, or iPad is disappointing. It can be connected to a computer for firmware updates but there probably won't be anymore. The remote app which also will probably NEVER get another update for Android only works with older versions of Android otherwise you'll constantly get token access errors. The only temporary solution is to log out and log back in. The Bluetooth is constantly cutting out. There should be software for windows or Mac to edit patches instead of just Android iPhone or iPad. Line 6 should stand behind there past present and future products.

Gigging band playing classic rock. very inconsistent and frustrating cant dial in anything decent everything is either gets buried in the mix or so brown it sounds terrible. Tried downloading other presets and was too quiet or ear screaming noisy. Get something better.

  • Truly a pedal of sounds from guitar players

I bought this slightly used from guitar center and I love it, there is a lot of complaints on this due to needing the app to run it and I was a little bit standing off on it due to that fact, but I just got a new phone and took the old one cleaned it up and dedicated to the purpose of running this pedal, and I am addicted. Understand fully this product is very good sounding with stunning effects and models. The tones in the cloud are made from people just like me and you, once your in you can tweak a sound and share it or store for personal use or both. It really is unlimited in the patches you can play, but more important is the patches are made by people who are using this thing to play the songs they tweaked the song for, so they are quite genuine. Sure there is a lot of Junk but there is also a lot great stuff. what you don't like is easily edited to what you want,

I want to use in front of Boss Katana 50. I like the increased flexibility of either this Firehawk OR Boss GT100, How do i set the Katana to "neutral" so all the effects are driven via the Firehawk?

    Open Reply - Charles
You can set a preset in the free BOSS Tone Studio editor that has no effects or modeling as a neutral preset.
