Best delay pedal on the market.

I've played with other delay pedals including, the boss dd-3,dd-6 and giga delay and hands down the DL4 is much better! Apparently I've read some reviews that it breaks easily, well I've had no problem the last 2 years and I bought it used on ebay to a guy that was gigging with it heavily! Thats almost 5 years of heavy abuse, I'd say its pretty reliable. The delays are incredible, those that say they all sound the same well, you need you read and play with it a bit more. You can get U2 sounds, Angels & Airwaves, great lead delays, and I LOVE the auto-volume swell that sounds like a stringed orchastra! The loop sampler function is worth the value of the pedal itself.. I create loops and then just record them raw into garageband to save them for later! I've gotten endless compliments on my unique style that this pedal gives me. GET IT!

Great but NOT

I have owned this pedal for about 7 months now. Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE this pedal. It produced incredible delays and I love them. However, there is a major problem that I have heard the DL4 commonly has. The problem is electrical issues. I'm on my 2nd electrical problem in the 7 months I have had it. If you do buy this pedal I HIGHLY recommend getting the Guitar Center Pro-coverage with it. I made the mistake of buying the DL4 and not getting the pro coverage and really regret it. The Line 6 warranty is a 1-year parts and labor, and they can be a pain to deal with. AND to get it fixed you have to take it to a place certified to repair the DL4. Guitar Center can't do it. Another reason to get the pro coverage. I hope this helps out many of you in your decision making. Again, it is a great pedal, but the electrical problems suck and I would recommend getting the pro-coverage if you get this pedal.

I got this as a gift for my boyfriend and he couldn't be more happy. I was kinda insert on this musician world so I know this is the best delay pedal. The way you can store the loops it's a huge plus. Some musicians have more then one just so they can use the loops on the concerts. Anyway would totally recommend.

I've tried a ton of delays liked a bunch of them too. I even traded my old Dl4 for a TC flashback x4 great pedal but nothing was as creative and organic to me as the DL4. Its a classic. You want some inspiration for your songwriting...get one.

  • This is the valuable tool you need when it comes to delays.

I purchased this pedal years ago when it first came out. I accidentally burned one out and knew that one day I would get it again. It really adds something special to your playing and recording.

I really enjoyed the sounds of this pedal, especially the modulated delay and reverse effects. I used it more than any of my other effects on my pedalboard, but after a few months it stopped working and I had to send it in for a repair. I was happy when they fixed it, but then it stopped working again.

I kept noticing this ugly green pedal on a lot of pros pedalboards but didn't know what it was. My guitar tech told me it was this DL4 so even though I don't use much delay I bought one. Great sounding pedal but not as user friendly as my Strymon. I'll just have to keep dinking with it!

I got my dl4 used at a pawn shop, great price, bought a line 6 adapter from GC in-store which was kinda cool that they keep that sort of thing in stock in case something breaks, or for back-ups. Let's just say, I don't need or want to try any other delay/looper. It's a popular, some would say essential, piece of equipment, but sadly my unit broke, much to my dismay. One day it just didn't turn on. After some research I discovered this is common to the dl4, with many videos and forum threads confirming. One guy had 4 or 5 dl4's lying around him in his video, all broken, I thought about it, as should you, and I decided to buy another dl4, new, but with the protection plan. Not always, but in this case, I would absolutely take advantage of the accident protection, and if I had the $$ I would do so with two and keep one on stand by. When you play with this thing, it opens you up to a whole new set of possibilities in your playing style and improvisation. I think you'll see how useful of a tool it is and why it's the smarter bet to go new and save yourself the headache, look up videos online, and trust that when you don't have a lot to invest, losing this piece, and having to learn the hard way just isn't worth it, although it initially seems better/cheaper. Hope this helps.
